I just read an advance pdf of this and man, it's a hard one to sell because it is SO GOOD but talking about what exactly makes it so good veers into spoilers that I think will take away from the experience. It's a real Hickman banger, bringing strong character stuff with a big high concept involving mutants, vampires, mutant vampires, and the church all acting as competing factions with a long history. I just finished it and I'm already itching to read the second. Don't miss this one, it's going to be huge and you don't want to be left out.

Midnight is an interesting experiment. Marvel doing their swing on an Absolute universe by way of a horror line is a cool hook. Taking Spider-man and making it a Fly type body horror is a REAL interesting and cool angle to go from as well. Phillip Kennedy Johnson has been killing it the last few years and Infernal Hulk shows how well he can land a good horror vibe so him at the helm of a body horror re-imagination of Spider-man feels as hype as it can get. You do not want to sleep on this line or this book specifically.

I don't really need to pitch Absolute Batman at this point, but I'm going to anyway because every single issue of this book absolutely rocks. The current Straw Man arc is probably the best yet and now we're getting Absolute Batgirl? Snyder just keeps cooking. Don't wait until next year to read this stuff. We have every issue of the arc in stock right now. Come get caught up and then get your preorders in for this and the next so you aren't getting spoiled on the big finale.

HALLOWEEN ANTHOLOGY TIME BABY!

I have a soft spot for the themed anthologies DC puts out. They spotlight a lot of lesser known creators and give some C and D list characters room to shine. Nothing's ever essential here but if you've never checked one out, you're missing out on some of the most fun and punchy stories DC has to offer. This year's entries all having sort of goofy, fun titles is just a bonus.

I can't lie. I'm hyped for the Street Fighter movie. The trailers look like the exact kind of fun nonsense I want more from adaptations like this. And hey, we're even getting some synergy, with the comics hopping on the antagonism between Cammy and Chun-Li in there and giving us a one shot with them having three fights in three time periods all with a common thread. This isn't gonna be a thinker, but it is likely to be a hoot.

I've been stressing this a lot lately, but second issue orders are arguably more important than first issues. We'll get a bigger buffer on first issues to give folks a chance to check a book out, but second (and third) issues do the most to inform us on what the final sales band is going to look like. So if you liked the first issue of the new Miles series and you think you want to read the second, get that preorder in to make sure you don't end up bubbled out. It's the best way to make sure the run has the room to grow into something epic.

Hulk War is coming and on the road there, we're getting a bunch of one shots where the heroes take one last shot at beating the Infernal Hulk. And boy howdy do we start with a big one as Wolverine renews the rivalry that goes right back to his first appearance. This one isn't going to be a thinker. If you like big, brutal slugfests then this one is for you.

Stop me if you've heard this one before. Something big and bad blew things up and now a new team of Avengers has to form with a sorta best of Marvel heroes vibe and more street level characters than you'd typically see here. Yeah, Chip is borrowing from the Bendis New Avengers playbook here, but considering how successful that run was you can hardly blame him. I'm real curious where all the hype around the end of Armageddon leaves us, so this one is going to be must read as the Marvel through-line book. A little old school meets a new concept. I'm into it.

Gambit has a big year. A focus in X-Men 97, Channing Tatum back for Avengers Doomsday...and here we get an interesting little story spinning out of X-Men of Apocalypse where 616 and AoA Gambit swap lives for a bit. How does AoA Gambit do at stealing a life and in return, what happens to the Cajun we know and love? It's a REALLY cool hook and I'm interested in seeing how it all plays out.
