The sun cooperated just before I left for work, so I was able to release our second Monarch — another beautiful boy! 💙 He spent about five minutes warming his wings in the sunshine… and then took flight! ☀️🦋

🦋 Monarch Magic Update! 🦋
Butterfly #2 is ready to emerge ANY minute now! Of course, it couldn’t happen before I had to leave for work this morning. 😂😭 Just look at those wings showing through the chrysalis!

Meanwhile, we currently have 5 more hungry caterpillars eating their way through our milkweed supply. 🌿🐛

So… stop by The Zen Shop and buy some crystals — I’m going milkweed poor! 🤣🤣🤣💎🦋 (and running out! It's hard to find this time of year!)

🐛✨ Caterpillar #7 is officially a chrysalis!

I can’t believe I caught the entire transformation on video — it only took about 5 minutes! I sped it up nearly 2x so you can watch the magic happen. 🦋💚

A Little Garden Magic This Morning… 🪷

We had the most beautiful visitor stop by our garden this morning — this incredible dragonfly! ✨ Look at those amazing wings! 💕 There’s something especially magical about having one choose your garden as a place to rest.

Dragonflies carry a beautiful spiritual symbolism. Because they begin their lives in water before eventually emerging and taking flight, they are powerful symbols of transformation, adaptability, personal growth and self-realization. They remind us that we are capable of moving beyond old versions of ourselves, seeing through illusion and embracing change with grace.

✨ Spiritually, the dragonfly can be a reminder to: • Trust the changes happening in your life
• Release what you have outgrown
• Look beyond appearances and seek deeper truth
• Remain flexible as life changes around you
• Step into a lighter, freer version of yourself

🍃 In Celtic folklore, dragonflies have been associated with magic and the unseen world, sometimes viewed as travelers between realms and symbols of the mysterious veil separating the physical and spiritual worlds.

🪶 Across various Native American traditions, dragonflies can carry important symbolism connected with water, renewal, speed, transformation and the spirit world. Their meanings vary greatly among individual Nations and traditions, but they are often regarded with respect and wonder.

✨️ Perhaps our little visitor simply needed somewhere peaceful to rest this morning… or perhaps it arrived with a reminder:

Transformation doesn't happen all at once. Sometimes we spend a long time beneath the surface before we're finally ready to spread our wings. 💜

Either way, we were honoured to have a little dragonfly magic in the garden today.

🦋 Our little Zen Monarch family just keeps growing! 💚

We now have FIVE beautiful chrysalises hanging from our handmade crystal habitat, with four more hungry caterpillars munching away and a few teeny-tiny freshly hatched babies just beginning their journeys. 🐛🌿

And our habitat has already served its most special purpose — it was the perfect place to welcome our very first Monarch into the world, giving him a beautiful, safe place to hang while his wings dried and strengthened before his release. 🦋✨

Seeing those gorgeous green-and-gold jewels hanging among the driftwood and crystals is pretty magical. And knowing there are still more caterpillars coming up behind them means Monarch Magic is far from over! 💚

🌑☀️🦁 NEW MOON IN LEO SOLAR ECLIPSE

✨ A Cosmic Reset. A Radiant New Beginning. ✨

Something powerful is happening in the skies today.

Today, August 12th, the New Moon moves through fiery Leo while aligning with the Sun to create a Solar Eclipse — combining the energy of a New Moon with the transformative symbolism of an eclipse.

Here in the Oshawq & Toronto area, we will experience the event as a partial solar eclipse. It begins at approximately 12:55 p.m. EDT, reaches its maximum at 1:40 p.m., and ends around 2:23 p.m., lasting approximately 1 hour and 28 minutes.

🌑 THE SPIRITUAL MEANING

New Moons traditionally symbolize beginnings, renewal and the start of a new cycle.

Solar eclipses add another layer — often associated in astrology with turning points, revelations, endings that make room for beginnings, and changes whose significance may unfold over the weeks and months ahead.

And this eclipse occurs in Leo. 🦁

Leo is associated with the Sun, courage, confidence, creativity, passion, leadership and authentic self-expression.

Together, this energy asks:
✨ Where have you been dimming your light?
✨ What are you finally ready to be seen for?
✨ What part of yourself wants to be expressed more boldly?
✨ What old story about who you are are you ready to leave behind?

This isn't necessarily about having every answer today. It may simply be about recognizing that something is ready to change.

🕯️ NEW MOON ECLIPSE RITUAL

Today or tonight, create a quiet sacred space.
Light a gold, yellow or orange candle to honour Leo's solar energy.
Place a piece of Citrine, Carnelian, Sunstone or Tiger's Eye nearby if you have one.
On a piece of paper, write:
“I release the version of myself that no longer needs to follow me into my next chapter.”
Take a few moments to consider what that means for you.
Then, instead of making a long manifestation list, write one intention for the person you are becoming.
Finish with:
“I trust what is leaving.
I welcome what is beginning.
I allow my light to shine.”

Sometimes a new beginning doesn't arrive with all the answers. Sometimes it begins the moment you decide you are no longer willing to make yourself smaller.

⚠️ ECLIPSE VIEWING: Never look directly at the Sun without proper certified eclipse eye protection. Regular sunglasses are not sufficient.

🦋 And just like that… our very first Monarch was ready to fly!

🧡 After watching his incredible journey from tiny caterpillar to butterfly, this morning it was finally time to set him free.

🌸 I had hoped to release him right into our butterfly sanctuary, but that part of the garden didn’t have enough morning sun to warm his wings. Instead, I placed him on a beautiful nectar-rich flower in a sunny spot.

🌳 He rested for a little while… and then suddenly took flight, landing high in our neighbour’s cherry tree.

✨️ Fly free, little one. What a privilege it was to be part of your journey.
