‘Coffee’ and storytelling dates are my favourite thing to do with my kiddos.

Storytelling out loud with kids has endless benefits from language development to social emotional skills. You can increase language development by reading as little as 3 children’s books out loud with your littles a day!

Danick will be downstairs with a table of books and goodies while Ash will be upstairs taking charity Santa photos in support of !

We think it's about time for a formal introduction post so..

HI 👋 we are Ashley and Danick (but Ash and Dan is fine!). We are both life and business partners - we know, we know. We have two hilariously great kiddos and two adorable and a little loud dogs.

Danick is a teacher by trade who has spent the majority of his adult life teaching kids high school English and reading a lot of Shakespeare.

Ash is a journalist and photographer by trade who has spent the majority of her adult life working at bookstores, managing coffee shops, writing for publications (and personally) and fine tuning her photography skills.

When we met 6 years ago, our first date was at a bookstore, and we both talked about how our dream was to one day open a bookstore ourselves - then we fell in love and it became a dream of opening one together - and now we have one. Still feels surreal.

After having children ourselves and seeing first hand the impact a good book can have on both a child and a caregiver, we knew we wanted our bookstore to specialize in this phenomenal bond between stories and people, especially those under the age of 18.

We believe in the magic of stories, the importance of feeling seen in the stories you love, and the importance of seeing others in them.

We hope you love it here as much as we do.

Now, we're done with the sappy prose, ask us all the questions down below! We would love for you to get to know us and Storytellers, and for us to get to know you!

Puzzles! 🧩

Did you know that puzzles have endless benefits for kids?
While putting a puzzle together your kid gets to work on:
🌈 Their memory skills
🌈 Colour & shape recognition
🌈 Problem solving skills
🌈 Coping strategies for when things don’t go their way / Emotional regulation
🌈 The concept of creating a plan/strategy

& so much more.

Some puzzles, like the one we are doing here, also have a separate learning element after you put it together. This one is a map of the world, so we learned some geography!

🧩 The love for puzzles is new for my toddler - we have liked them before but recently we have become obsessed! - and I love it.
