Dear readers,

We have some sad news to share with you. After a lot of consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close Westboro Books.

While we are not able to keep the store open going forward, we want to take this opportunity to thank you for contributing to this wonderful community. Shilhav’s goal opening Westboro Books was to create a space where passionate readers could gather. Thank you Westboro, for welcoming us into this vibrant community. Thank you to everyone who stopped by the store, showed up to our events, participated in our clubs and workshops, and shared their love of literature with us.

Now for the details:

- The store will be closing for good on March 10th.

- Starting today (Saturday, February 21st) all of our inventory will be 50% off (excluding magazines and books by local authors on consignment)

- If you have already purchased or received a gift card, you can use it to make an online order with us until April 31st. Shop our website, or contact us by email to place special orders. After March 10th, books ordered with gift cards will be delivered (within Ottawa).

- If you have placed an order with us but it hasn’t arrived yet, don’t worry! If it hasn’t arrived by March 10th, we will deliver it to you (within Ottawa).

We hope you can stop by over the next few weeks to shop our sale and say goodbye. We’re going to miss you!

We loved this new picture book so much we HAD to make a post about it!

This is the perfect present for those curious kids who are always asking "why". Written by poet Brian Bilston, this book answers 100 curious questions with funny (and informative) poems!

With charming illustrations from Joe Berger, and bonus facts at the bottom of each poem, this would be such a fun book to read as a family!

Swipe to see some of the questions and poetic answers. Our favourite is the unique layout in the last picture!

About the book:
"Bea couldn't be more excited to trade the stifling Stockholm summer heat for vacation on Gotland Island. She’s looking forward to spending quality time with her beloved husband of thirty-two years, Niklas, and their two moody teenage daughters, and recuperating from the stress of daily life in the company of her beloved in-laws. One night shortly before their departure, Bea and Niklas have a seemingly mundane argument over a trivial issue, and Niklas goes out with a friend to blow off steam. As the hours pass, Niklas doesn’t come home, and Bea’s irritation soon gives way to panic as she imagines what kind of disaster might have happened to delay his return.
What she soon learns will change her life forever: while her husband is fine, their marriage is not. Her kind, gentle pediatrician husband wants to leave her. But while this might seem like sudden insanity to Bea, for Niklas, it’s anything but…
Writing with the warmth and empathy that have made her insightful, page-turning family novels bestsellers in her native Sweden, Moa Herngren raises thoughtful questions about why relationships fall apart: Is the person who leaves always the bad guy? What emerges once you begin scratching the surface of what seems like a clear-cut situation? Translated from the Swedish by Alice Menzies, The Divorce is a gripping novel that deftly explores the complexities of modern marriage."
