Something new is taking shape in Stittsville, and SHOWROOM furniture + lighting is proud to be part of how it comes together.

We’ve been selected to design and furnish four model suites at Wellings of Stittsville, a new 55+ community just a few blocks from our doors. We recently toured the spaces as we begin designing each suite ahead of their unveiling at the end of November.

For many residents, this move marks a new chapter after years in a family home. We’re also curating complete furniture packages designed for suite living, with every piece considered for its scale, function and how beautifully it works within the space.
Nothing to piece together. Everything considered.

And with SHOWROOM just down the road, residents can explore our full collection of furniture, lighting and finishing pieces in person.

Design Powerhouses Unite

Talking design, interiors and a new shopping experience in Stittsville.

SHOWROOM furniture + lighting owner Jennifer Miller and KOTi 28 owner Angie MacCrae recently appeared CTV Your Morning Ottawa, 580 CFRA and Rogers tv Ottawa for a closer look at SHOWROOM and KOTi 28, our shop-in-shop bringing two distinct design perspectives together under one roof.

From furniture and lighting to thoughtfully selected pieces for the home, it’s a space designed to be explored, layered and experienced in person.

I believe that the best opportunities come from being in the room with people who are building, creating and thinking about what’s next.

I’m happy to share that I’ve officially joined the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association (GOHBA).

After more than 20 years working across design, renovation, real estate and now development, this feels like a natural next step. These industries have always overlapped in my work, and I value the relationships and ideas that come from connecting with people who see the possibilities in what we can create.

I’m looking forward to getting more involved, connecting with others across Ottawa’s building and development community, and contributing my own perspective along the way.

One of the biggest renovation mistakes happens before construction even begins: estimating costs before the important decisions have been made.

After 20 years in design and renovation, I’ve seen how much the work done upfront can improve both the budget accuracy, and the overall process.

A detailed drawing set ensures every trade is quoting on the same scope of work. Material selections matter too. A marble herringbone backsplash, for example, will cost more in labour to install than a simple porcelain subway tile. And that’s just one line item.

The same goes for budgeting and project management. It’s not about choosing the lowest bid. It’s about knowing what quality work should cost, working with trusted trades and keeping the project on track.

If a renovation is priced with too many decisions still unknown, contractors have to account for that uncertainty in their quotes.

The more clarity you have upfront, the more accurately you can understand your costs, compare quotes and protect your renovation budget.
