Sue's trees are amazing! Thanks for sharing the technique

Sue’s tree technique final stages.
The coils get pulled out to fill out the tree foliage and the tree just blooms! The final decisions about mounting and embellishing the base are made and the tree is ready for its new home.

For the last while I’ve been focusing more on art quilts than the designs for patterns. It has been really gratifying. This piece is in the Salon des Refuses art show here in Sooke, BC. It’s one of my favourite places.

Call to action for Canadian quilters:

On Friday April 6, 2018 the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team players and staff were on their way to a play-off game when their team bus was in a collision with a semi-truck trailer in rural Saskatchewan.

The local quilters of Humboldt and Melfort will be making a player’s quilt for each of the 29 players/staff or families of players/staff that were on the bus. This additional call for quilts from our generous quilting community comes for the others impacted by the events, including: billet families, first responders, EMT, RCMP, Fire, Broncos staff and Board members, and many others impacted in the communities of Humboldt and Tisdale.

The current estimate is that they will need 200 quilts. Let's help them reach this goal!

Quilters are encouraged to make blocks, quilt tops, or finished quilts.
