Busy Beads and Used News One man's trash is another man's treasure Looking around the neighborhood every Wednesday morning makes me realize how much STUFF we don't need.

Bags and bags full of garbage and bins full of items of recycling. For a long time, I felt good just about the fact that I recycle BUT I never really thought about the reduce and reuse part. There used to be a time when all this trash by the road was rarely seen as so much of it just wasn't there. Food didn't come in so many packages, people returned their coke bottles to the store, and plastic ba

gs? There weren't any. Now we seem to throw everything out that is unneeded and unwanted around the house. So what if we re purposed these things? This is how our little side business got it's ideas. The number one thing we were recycling were the newspapers so I decided I would keep them all and make puzzle piece magnets out of them. There's one thing our of the recycling bin. I wanted to get the bin even more empty so what else could I save from there? How about all those great containers? Well, they're going to be molded and formed (using paper maché) into piggy banks. Cardboard pieces are turned into one of a kind beads on handmade necklaces. Those are just the things we can salvage to bring you some fun and interesting gifts. So, we decided, we don't need hundreds of puzzle piece magnets or dozens of piggy bangs or even plenty of necklaces. That's why we've started a little shop just for you. It has been a great way to get the kids aware and involved in the importance of recycling and not just putting things in the bin but seeing if it's possible to bring new life to them. Imagine being a salsa container. And the very next night being someone's cute cuddly piggy bank :) It's that simple. We hope you enjoy our fun new used ideas. Amy

For all my Canadian fans. Sorry American's, you can't try this one out. My Grandma showed me these mats she was helping to make to send away as floor mats for beds in Haiti. It's pretty neat how we can use the things that are filling us our landfills unnecessarily and make them into beds!
