This month The May Court Club of Ottawa had to say good-bye to Joyce Clarkson. Until recently, Joyce was a weekly Monday morning volunteer setting up the shop for the week. She was always engaged with her friends, other volunteers and customers. We recognize the enormous contribution that Joyce made to the Club and to the people frequenting the Bargain Box as she was pivotal in creating the store in 1971. Yes - 1971.
Her son wrote to us and said. "...She had a deep joy for life, and easy-going sociability, rarely passing up an opportunity to strike up a conversation and make a new friend. She found immense joy in volunteering at the May Court Club of Ottawa. She served a term as Club President, and for over 50 years, worked at her beloved May Court Bargain Box, which she helped open in 1971. The Bargain Box was a passion for her and a source of great pride. She volunteered there well into her 90’s."
May our beloved Joyce rest in peace.
