You might think I'm a little crazy for not pinching my snaps, especially with only a small 420ft² growing space.

What is pinching? It involves cutting the main growth point to promote bushier growth.

Pinching = more blooms. But it comes with trade-offs: stem length, bloom size & stem strength.

To make up for the extra blooms I'd have gotten from pinching, I plant densely instead!

I've never grown this many snaps before - 180 snaps in 20ft²! 🤯 That's 9 snaps per ft². Damn right, pack those babies in! 😎

Remember, gardening is supposed to be fun. You make the rules. Experimenting is the best way to learn!

Snapdragons🌸

What's not to love about them?
(Ok, ok they do take forever to start from seed, but apart from that..)

Tall spikes with an abundance of blossoms. They come in 2 shapes: close-faced and open-faced.

Traditional snapdragons are close faced, with a dragon-like jaw that snaps shut after being pinched open. Hence the name!

Unconventional open-faced varieties give a totally different vibe. Their blooms look almost like azaleas, and always get a "Wait, what IS that? 😍".

My clematis in all her glory🌸

Last fall, she was hanging onto my light fixture for dear life. She got a well needed haircut and a sturdy trellis - and you can actually see my number sign this year 😂

My old man and I were like two peas in a pod.

As a 4 year old, I'd often fake sick so that we could hang out and hit up the SPCA to find our dog. He worked overnights, and whenever he'd wake up from his nap I always had our day planned out - "Soooo uhhhhh... you take me SPCA?!?" After a quick thought, the answer was always yes. My love of dogs is all him.

As a kid, I was often his little assistant whether it was working on a car or hitting up the scrapyard for parts.

As a preteen/teen, I'd often miss my bus and he'd take me to school. But we had to be "fashionably late" - coffee first.

Being around my dad was always a hoot, even when he'd embarrass me. Don't worry, I got him good on a few occasions!

Last weekend was a busy one for me and I ran out of time to make a post, but I still wanted to make one. We celebrated his sister Colette's birthday last weekend. She's the closest thing I have to my dad, and I'm the closest thing she has to my dad.

All this to say...
In true "Jo" fashion, always a little late (IYKYK) but...
Happy belated Father's Day in heaven, Dad.

I miss him so, despite it being 8 years since his passing.
The thing about grief is, it never really goes away.
