We are serving up Thanksgiving dinners this week thanks to the good Neighbours at REMAX Hallmark Realty Ltd., Brokerage and these plates are full! Amazing.

But when we asked our Neighbours what they really wanted, the answer was pretty clear:

2 DESSERTS😂

So let’s do it!

🥧 Pies
🍪 Cookies
🍰 Cake
🧁 Muffins

And while we’re at it, our Community Pantry could use:

🍜 Ramen noodles
🧀 Kraft Dinner
🥨 Snacks
🥫 Canned meat
🥣 Canned stew
🧃 Juice or juice crystals
🧴 Shampoo
👶 Size 5 children’s diapers
🧴 Diaper rash cream

Thanksgiving is about sharing what we have, looking out for our Neighbours, and making sure nobody feels forgotten.

And apparently, this year, that means PIE.

Bring what you can. We’ll make sure it gets where it’s needed. 🦃

🥪 SANDWICHES MATTER. A LOT.

At Highjinx, sandwiches are one of the most important parts of our food program.

They are simple. They are portable. They require no kitchen, no stove, no fridge and no fuss.

And for many of our Neighbours, that matters.

🥪 Seniors who may not have the energy or ability to prepare a meal.

🥪 Neighbours living with health challenges who need something they can easily eat when they can.

🥪 Unhoused Neighbours who may have nowhere to safely prepare or store food.

🥪 Neighbours living in rooming houses where cooking facilities can be limited, shared or simply unavailable.

A sandwich can be breakfast. Lunch. Dinner. Or the thing someone puts in their bag because they don’t know when their next meal will be.

It may look like just a sandwich.

It isn’t.

It is food that is ready when someone needs it. It is dignity. It is a little bit of security in a day that may have very little of it.

So yes — we always need sandwiches. 🥪

On our weekend adventure, we found the BEST shop in Wilton, Ontario with the friendliest owner.

He’s got a beautiful blue barn full of the most amazing collectibles, tin lunch boxes, radios, fishing lures, wood crates, telephones and so many things we just crooned over.

Joe was so kind and fun to swap stories with making us wish we could spend hours with him. Next time! But this time he gifted us a load of Wrestlers and a fabulous vintage phone to help us help others. What a guy!
