Be Aware of Email Scams!

Over the past couple of days we have seen a larger than normal number of phishing attempts targeting SaskTel.net email addresses where people are trying to steal your Email Password, other Sensitive Information and Credit Card details by getting you to click a link.

It is easy to mistakenly interact with these malicious emails as they look pretty similar to genuine SaskTel emails, but please be aware that SaskTel will not reach out to you with urgent requests to do things like “Update before the Deadline” or tell you that in order to continue using your email you must do something such as clicking a link or opening a document.

They will also not use terms like “User” or “Valued User” instead of your name. These are low effort attempts to steal your information, so you are safe as long as you don’t interact with the email and don’t click any links.

Outlook Mobility wants to help provide some awareness, as we have been seeing an increased number of scam emails impersonating the CRA regarding refunds and tax return issues due to the time of year. These often suggest clicking a link for details. Outlook Mobility advises logging into the CRA on the Government of Canada website www.canada.ca .

NEVER click a link in your email or texts.

If you are unsure if you have received a scam email like this, don’t hesitate to stop by and we can take a look for you as well.
