Did you know that in addition to being a successful book publisher who runs a bookstore and cafe in downtown Owen Sound Maryann is also a runner? And today on her birthday when I called her to wish her a great day she was "just heading out for a run" and then will be opening the store to see you!

Today is your day to book your spot: Music & Memories with Bill Monahan on Thursday September 17 at 7pm!

Local singer-songwriter Bill Monahan has been around. Two Dollar Cover: Under the Underground and Over the Hills, his self-published book, chronicles his unbelievable musical adventures in Meaford, Toronto's Yorkville, Woodstock, and more during the past sixty years. Two Dollar Cover will be launched at The Ginger Press in downtown Owen Sound at 7:00pm on Thursday, September 17.

Bill remembers Joni Mitchell telling him, "Write what you know," when asked about important lessons. It was 1967 and they were at The Riverboat in Yorkville. Drawing from his extensive notes and journals, he goes on to describe being front row at Woodstock, hearing a nervous young John Prine at an early Mariposa, learning about royalties from Richard Flohill at CAPAC, performing at jam night at Ted's Range Road Diner near the Tank Range outside Meaford, and so much more.

John Terpstra is coming to Owen Sound and will be speaking at WOOD SYMPOSIUM 2026!

For 40 years John Terpstra worked as a cabinetmaker and carpenter, learning on the job, starting in small companies before becoming self-employed out of his own woodworking shop. At the same time, he was writing and publishing books of poetry. The words and the wood overlapped. His seminar will describe how, and feature work from both halves of his creative brain.

Michelle Unsworth-Foote will be signing How To Get Your Sh*t Together (So Your Loved Ones Don’t Have To Do It For You). This book deals with things that many of us don't want to think about, talk about, or do (write a will, name powers of attorney, get bank and investment accounts in order, let others know our wishes, etc.). Despite its extraordinarily difficult subject matter, the book is a quick read with useful suggestions and checklists.

Michelle wrote How to Get Your Sh*t Together with humour and personal stories, having lost two husbands in the past 15 years. She recently retired after 42 years in the financial industry, the last eight as a manager in the Estates Department at TD Bank. Everyone is welcome to attend.
