ArtWalk is upon us! Let's go!
Twelve businesses in downtown Owen Sound have collaborated again to present ArtWalk, a self-guided walking tour of venues featuring contemporary and vintage art from 10:00 to 3:00 on Saturday June 27. You are invited to visit the galleries and shops, meet the artists, and enjoy demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and art talks. There is no charge to attend; parking is free; and there is a Grand ArtWalk Prize (value $1000+) to be won.
Participating ArtWalk venues include: Bluewater Quilters Guild at 769 2nd Avenue East, Curvey Lines Art School & Print Shop at 817 3rd Avenue East, Georgian Bay School of the Arts at 938 2nd Avenue East, Grey Gallery at 883 2nd Avenue East• Intersections Wood Collaborative at 299 10th Street East, James's Emporium Vintage Shop at 883 2nd Avenue East (back room), Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library at 824 1st Avenue West, Owen Sound Artists' Co-operative at 942 2nd Avenue East, Owen Sound Farmers' Market at 88 8th Street East (8:00-12:30pm), Tom Thomson Art Gallery at 840 1st Avenue West, and Vintage Magpie at 777 2nd Avenue East.
Each ArtWalk venue will have unique programming focussing on showcasing the remarkable range of arts-related opportunities and activities in downtown Owen Sound. ArtWalkers who get their passport stamped at every venue will be eligible to win the Grand Prize, which consists of an enthusiasm of gifts and gift certificates from the downtown arts community.
ArtWalk is an award-winning community event established in 2019 to connect and promote downtown arts-related businesses and galleries. There is no charge to attend and ArtWalkers are encouraged to spend the day discovering and enjoying the wide range of creative establishments downtown.
AND...Dave and Trish Hawkins will be performing at 1:00pm on Saturday June 27 across the street at the Grey Gallery Garden. This is a free live music concert! BYO chair.
AND...We will be hosting an exhibition of paintings by Frank deMatteis here at The GP. Drop by to meet the artist and celebrate his remarkable work at 2:00pm this Saturday June 27.
AND...Our downtown guerilla artist has been installing tiny resin mystery sculptures on lampposts along 2nd Avenue East. Take the time to discover and enjoy these special treats.
AND...Miranda Miller, author of Flowerpot Island: Then & Now will be launching her book onboard the Chi-Cheemaun this Sunday, June 28. Buy your Chi-Cheemaun day pass at 1-800-265-3163 and join us for her book talk and signing, leaving Tobermory at 8:45am and leaving South Baymouth at 11:00.
