WHAT’S FOR SUPPER?

Would you like a cherry pie?
Because we got a frost when the cherry trees were in bloom, there are VERY few locally grown cherries. Nevertheless, the local fruit farm had some sour cherries in the freezer from last year so we made cherry pie with those. This is the reason it's imperative to learn to preserve food. If you want to learn more about preserving food you could join "The Inside Circle". You never know what next year will bring. Better to have too much than not enough. Here's is the link for that.

We also made some apple pies today.

You'll see we have some pocket pies there. Of four flavors. Pocket pies are made for people who are afraid " they will eat the whole thing" (a likely problem) or for the few who think they could never eat the whole thing.

On Friday, June 10, I will be making black cherry ice cream made with organic, Saugeen Country yogurt and black cherries. I am looking for one person join me in the kitchen. This person will be part of my "Inside Circle" and join me in a live video. ( I will need some hands to help make the process go a bit faster). If you are already part of my Inside Circle, please message me. If you would like to join the Inside Circle, please do so on this link.

When we are done, I will attempt to post a photo of the finished project. Frozen yogurt is not quite as creamy as ice cream, but still delicious and very nutritious.

When the flowers on the potatoes die, it's time for you to start digging your photos. These are my mom's potatoes. To keep the bugs off potatoes in a natural way you can dilute molasses and pour the mixture right on the leaves. The bugs cannot digest the sugar. And the molasses fertilize the soil. Digging potatoes feels like a treasure hunt. You never know what's you'll find. Early in the season you don't have to rip up the whole plant. You can just reach under the plant (under the ground) and take out a few for supper. . . Or if you don't have potatoes plants, you can come to Orchard's Landing to get some. They go quickly. So, while supplies last, daily.
What your favorite potatoe recipe?
