TAKEI, George. To the Stars: The Autobiography of George Takei. New York. Pocket Books, 1994. 1st UK edition with the jacket price in UK currency. Pp x, 406. Illustrated with b&w photos. Bound in blue cloth over blue boards. A fine copy in a fine dust jacket. Inscribed and signed by the author on the front endpaper. The inscription is also somewhat autobiographical. Takei had a decades-long feud with William Shatner. The inscription reads "To Jeff, Bill Shatner thought this would be a stupid gift, but the hell with Bill Shatner". The recipient is unknown, but the inscription suggests that he was known to Takei, and that the book was a personal gift. It also highlights the personal feud, with Shatner, in a humorous manner. $150

COBB, Ty. Busting 'Em: and Other Big League Stories. New York. Edward J. Clode, 1914. 1st edition. Introduction by John N. Wheeler. Bound in taupe cloth with titles in brown. Illustrated with humorous cartoon drawings. There is a trace of wear at the outer extremities, and the bottom corners are very slightly bruised (almost unnoticeable). Very faint smudges on the front free endpaper, but the text is exceptionally clean. Spine has a hint of a crease, but there are no sharp lines. The cloth is also very clean, and the binding is smartly square. This title is often offered with significant wear, but this an exceptional, handsome copy of a truly scarce book. A series of baseball stories covering Cobb's career to date. See photos. $2650
