Retrouvez le très sympathique Dan Duchene – The Antique Baron, aux kiosques 1D04, 1D05 et 1D06, lors du Salon National des Collectionneurs!

Son espace est un véritable plaisir à explorer : enseignes publicitaires anciennes, plaques, objets Coca-Cola, objets vintage, curiosités et pièces de collection originales. Et comme on peut le voir sur la photo, même la présentation vaut le détour! 😄

C’est exactement le genre de kiosque où il faut prendre son temps, regarder partout et fouiller un peu… parce qu’un vrai trésor peut se cacher juste devant vous.

An original drawing by Walter Ruhman depicting the contrast between life within a WW2 Canadian internment camp and life on the outside.

Dr. Walter Ruhman (aka Ruhmann) was born in Berlin, Germany in 1899. He wrote several books related to arthritis and rheumatism in the 1930s. In 1939 he fled to Britain from N**i Germany.
After fleeing N**i Germany for Great Britain in 1939, he was classified as an "enemy alien" alongside thousands of other male European refugees. In the summer of 1940, he was sent across the Atlantic to a Canadian internment camp.

Walter Ruhman was primarily interned in Camp R (located in Red Rock, Ontario), though like many Jewish and political refugees sent to Canada, he was moved across Canada's wartime detention network.

Historical accounts explicitly tie his artistic development to his time at Camp R, noting that camp artists like Walter Ruhman, Oscar Cahen, and Robert Langstadt spent their confinement polishing their talents, illustrating camp newspapers, and decorating their barren huts.

Following his internment he took up residence in Montreal and developed a new passi

An original political drawing done by Walter Ruhman while he was interned at Internment Camp R in Red Rock, Ontario in 1940.
