Scarce pair of swivel side tables, Giorgetti, Design: Massimo Scolari. Numbered.
The tops swivel out revealing a hidden storage level above two smooth-sliding drawers. The bases are heavy metal and the entire table swivels. The tops have a rubberised surface so your drinks won’t slip (surfaces have some minor scratching and wear from previous owner’s drinks).
Massimo Scolari (b. 1943) designed furniture for Giorgetti in Italy from 1989 through 2001. Trained in architecture he has a professor of the History of Architecture and of Drawing, while also being a visiting professor at universities in the US and Europe. He has edited magazines and a series of architectural books. He is also known for his drawings which reflect a surrealist energy of pyramids, ziggurats and axiomatic forms. His works are in permanent collections of MoMA, the German Architecture Museum of Frankfurt, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
