The Wild Rock name came up at about 3am when Scott and Kieran were driving a clapped out '82 Ch

evette with one wiper blade in snowstorm on the way home from a climbing trip to the T-Wall in Tennessee in winter 1992. Two 24-year-old lads, Kieran Andrews, a professional ski and climbing bum, and Scott Murison, a climbing and telemark major with a minor Bachelor of Commerce degree, launched Wild Rock Outfitters in the fall of 1992. Kieran and Scott started small, with a 900 square foot store on George Street in downtown Peterborough. In 1997, they purchased their present location on Charlotte St, the old bingo hall (previously an A&P grocery store originally built in 1938) and gutted and renovated it. In March 2003 they launched a new category offering professional and friendly service and sales for mountain, road and hybrid bikes. Bike Werks was developed when Scott and Kieran took on two new partners in the business, Dave Woodfine and long-time employee Jonathon Moreno. With a newly renovated space in the Wild Rock Outfitters store, Bike Werks provides a fantastic selection of bikes and accessories for anyone interested in two-wheeled adventure. So natural was the fit that eventually the Bike Werks name was dropped and Wild Rock became the place we know today! Since then the Wild Rock crew has been busting their butts trying to be the best little privately owned store relevant to the outdoor athlete and enthusiast.

We are pumped to be a sponsor of the 100 Acre Gravel Race this Sunday!

Those hills in Peterborough County don't mess around, and the cold beer waiting back at @100 Acre Brewing Company is going to be well earned. We'll be set up with our Wild Rock and Wild Again tents, so come find us before you head out and after you finish.

We'll have bikes on display, our friends from Cannondale joining us with some of their lineup, and one of our mechanics on hand for any last-minute tech needs. Wild Again will be there with a solid collection of second-hand cycling gear worth checking out.

You'll also spot our crew out on the course. We have staff volunteering in a number of roles throughout the event, so keep an eye out for the Wild Rock team along the route.

We’re excited to be part of the 2026 Ontario Solo Canoeing Rendezvous in Peterborough, June 19–21 alongside our friends at Nova Craft Canoe.

Stop by our shared booth to check out our lineup of canoes, connect with the Nova Craft team, and celebrate a weekend of paddling, skill-building, and canoe culture with the community.

Long weekends mean more play and less work.

But don't worry, we're open Saturday and Sunday to make sure you have what you need to get outside.

We're CLOSED Monday, May 18, however, so our staff can have some fun too!
