Our bread bags must be on the slow boat, they haven't arrived yet so storefront items are the leftovers from yesterday as we've just got sooo much bread and buns to slice for orders once the bags do arrive, that it'll likely take us all afternoon to get through the chaos.

So instead of trying to sell you something with a fancy poem, I'll take the opportunity to acknowledge that today is Su***de Prevention Day. I'm not on a social media bandwagon with this, its actually close to my heart. My best friend chose to end his life 3 years ago this month, and that's the thing about su***de... it's irreversible and it affects the people that love them. It's very real and it sadly happens everyday. So reach out to a friend that you maybe haven't heard from in a while; smile at a stranger today, hold a door open for a neighbor or do some other random act of kindness. Everybody is fighting personal battles and you may just be the beacon of light they need!

Being a strongman has taught me that strength comes in many forms. Yes, sometimes it's about throwing down in the gym but it's also about being emotionally secure enough to publicly post that I miss my old friend and I'm feeling a bit sad and emotional today. And you know what? That's perfectly okay. Life is about balance so a somber post today should clear the mind for a return to my regular jolly posts tomorrow.

Now go be someone's light today!

Good morning, it's a short week and already hump day so why not celebrate by treating yourself at the Home Bakery!?

Jumbo Chocolate Chip Scones, Chocolate Biscotti, and Oatmeal Cookies get us started today.

We were so busy last week that I underestimated how much packaging we'd use... a good problem to have, thank you again for all those orders, but a slight problem nonetheless as I presently have lots of fresh bread and buns and just waiting on the delivery truck to arrive with bread bags... and then it's gonna be a zoo in here of heavy slicing, packaging, etc! Lol.

The Home Bakery will be closed Friday, September 4th. Been so busy baking that Back to School has snuck up and just have some other things to tend to today. We apologize for any inconvenience, but will still run a delivery of hamburger buns to Park's this morning.

No song or poem today, I had to bust my buns to pull off a big order by 10am and had to stay mentally sharp on my baking... but miracles happen every day here at the Home Bakery, we got it done on time and that's one more happy customer! 🥳

Hmm... what can I extrapolate out of that for today's menu?

Raspberry Miracle Muffins, and Busted Cinnamon Buns are warm and ready to go, and our mentally sharp Brookie Cookies are back (half Brownie, half Cookie) plus we have a few discounted items remaining from yesterday!

Did a supply run out to Brandon today and every time I pass the turn off to Souris, I keep telling myself that one day I'm gonna detour and visit our friends at Minary Homestyle Bakery... and that day was today!!

After a few years of online chats, messages, even song battles, I finally got to meet Cody and Kendra in person and check out their operation. It's always a growth opportunity when visiting another bakery, and it didn't take me long to start asking questions and soaking up answers. I learned about "Scottish Baps," a type of dinner roll I'd never heard of before, and I got to see those Bigfoot Fritters that they're so famous for! They kindly invited me to come hang out and learn some different production techniques sometime, and time being what it is, if I can ever make it work, I hope to take them up on it.

Don't tell anybody, but the Long John Cream Horns just looked too good, so yes, I bought something from another bakery. Lol. And next time you're in Souris, or even have time for a short detour from Brandon, I officially recommend a visit to Minary Homestyle Bakery.

Thanks to Kendra Minary and Cody Minary for hosting me today, it was awesome to finally meet you!

Here I am, and boy with 5 loaves and two fish, how far will they go amongst so many? 🍞 🐟

I actually don't have any fish, but the new testament parable seemed appropriate today as I've got so many bread orders that I only have 5 little loaves to fuel our storefront to start today.

Plans have to be fluid at the bakery. We had plans for Scones, biscuits, cookies and things, but didn't realize that we'd run out of butter, so storefront treats won't appear until this afternoon, that's totally our oversight and we apologize for any inconvenience.

As for bread and buns, I'm completely at production capacity this week and next week, thank you everyone for all the big orders!!!
