I know many of you knew my Dad, Owner of La Cabane d'Oiseaux. Unfortunately, with covid restrictions we can only have 50ppl by personal invitation at his celebration of life. We do have a link for a live stream of my brother (Steve) and I to give our eulogies. Dear Valued Customers,

I just wanted to update you all with the news of the fate of the store.

Unfortunately, my brother & I had to make the difficult decision to close the store permanently. It just wouldn't be the same place without our Dad there.

Thankfully, for all of you, Le Panier is presently transferring ALL of the merchandise that was in La Cabane d'Oiseaux to their store at 274 Lakeshore Dr, Pointe-Claire, Quebec H9S 4K9. Anyone looking for bird seed (they will be using the same supplier) it is ready in their shop right now! Soon enough everything else will be there too. We really like the idea that our Dad's store will still live on, just in another location.

We want to thank you all for being great customers and giving your support and friendship to my Dad for 28 years.

Je voulais juste vous mettre à jour avec les nouvelles du sort du magasin. Malheureusement, mon frère et moi avons dû prendre la décision difficile de fermer définitivement le magasin. Ce ne serait tout simplement pas le même endroit sans notre père.

Heureusement, pour vous tous, Le Panier transfère actuellement TOUTES les marchandises qui se trouvaient à La Cabane d'Oiseaux à leur magasin au 274, promenade Lakeshore, Pointe-Claire, Québec H9S 4K9. Tous ceux qui recherchent des graines pour oiseaux (ils utiliseront le même fournisseur) sont prêts dans leur boutique dès maintenant! Bientôt, tout le reste sera là aussi. Nous aimons vraiment l'idée que le magasin de notre père continue de vivre, juste dans un autre endroit.

Nous tenons à vous remercier tous d'être de merveilleux clients et de donner votre soutien et votre amitié à mon père pendant 28 ans.

Dear Valued Customers/Friends,

It is with a very heavy heart that my brother Steve & I (Lori) must announce the unexpected passing of our father, David Dow (owner of La Cabane d'Oiseaux). We are still in shock ourselves at this unfortunate turn of events. He passed peacefully in his sleep from a heart attack in the early morning hours on May 7th 2020. My brother and I have a lot to take care of in the coming days and weeks. I will make more posts in the next little while as to what will be happening with the store. We would appreciate your patience during this difficult time. We will be returning your calls, email and direct Facebook messages, but it will take time for us to get back to you.

My Father loved running his store, meeting new people every day, forming friendships with the other merchants in the Village as well as with his loyal customers. He just enjoyed the every day fun banter with the customers that walked through his door.

Chers chers clients / amis, C'est avec un cœur très lourd que mon frère Steve et moi (Lori) devons annoncer le décès inattendu de notre père, David Dow (propriétaire de La Cabane d'Oiseaux). Nous sommes toujours sous le choc de cette tournure malheureuse des événements. Il est décédé paisiblement dans son sommeil d'une crise cardiaque aux petites heures du matin le 7 mai 2020. Mon frère et moi avons beaucoup à faire dans les jours et les semaines à venir. Je ferai plus de messages dans les prochains jours sur ce qui se passera avec le magasin. Nous vous serions reconnaissants de votre patience pendant cette période difficile. Nous vous renverrons vos appels, vos e-mails et vos messages Facebook directs, mais il nous faudra du temps pour vous répondre.

Mon père aimait gérer son magasin, rencontrer de nouvelles personnes chaque jour, nouer des amitiés avec les autres commerçants du village ainsi qu'avec ses fidèles clients. Il a juste apprécié les plaisanteries quotidiennes avec les clients qui ont franchi sa porte.

Hummingbirds and Orioles are winging their way into our territory. Ruby throated hummingbird's have been spotted in Ohio while Baltimore orioles have been spotted In Vermont. It is time to get ready for them as they are early this year. Please call 514-426-0966 to make an appointment.

Dear Loyal & Valued Customers,

Due to the COVID-19 guidelines from the Quebec Government we have made the difficult decision to keep the store closed until further notice.

The owner (Dave Dow) must stay in self isolation as he falls into the high risk category if he were to contract COVID-19.

We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. However, the health and safety of everyone is of the utmost importance during this time.

Dear Valued Customers,

In light of the recent events concerning COVID-19 the store will be closed Monday, March 16th to Wednesday, March 18th 2020. I will post on Wednesday to let you know when the store will reopen. We please ask for your understanding.

The owner of the store (Dave Dow, my father) falls into the high risk category for COVID-19. Therefore, we kindly ask that if we do reopen at the end of the week, if you have been traveling in the past few weeks, or are feeling under the weather, to please wait to visit to make your purchase at our store.
