Join the Cobourg Municipal Debate Planning Committee
I believe that healthy communities are built through respectful public discussion. Elections are one of the few times when we have the opportunity to ask the people seeking to represent us the questions that matter most.
Those questions should come from the community, not from one individual or one organization.
That's why I'm looking to bring together a volunteer planning committee of seven people (including myself) to help organize a series of debates for the next Cobourg municipal election.
This committee won't simply help run the event. Its most important role will be to develop the content. Together, we'll identify the issues that matter most to Cobourg residents, collect questions from the public, and create a fair, structured, and balanced debate that gives every candidate an equal opportunity to share their vision.
I'm intentionally looking for people with different backgrounds, experiences, ages, perspectives, and interests because our community is diverse.
A committee that reflects that diversity is far more likely to ask meaningful questions and ensure the discussion represents the concerns of Cobourg as a whole, not just a single point of view.
The vision to create a respectful, non-partisan process that helps us the residents of Cobourg make informed decisions.
The committee will review community submissions, identify common themes, and develop thoughtful questions that encourage candidates to explain not only what they would do, but how they would lead.
If you believe in civic engagement, respectful dialogue, and helping create a fair, structured and informative election debate.
