Well, friends...the Crazy Bag Lady has changed directions. I just sent a bunch of bags into the big city for the homeless population. I am heavy into community service, but prefer projects like this, not going on the front lines.
I'm not sure if I am going to keep the page up, but until I decide, feel free to drop in and say hi

Hey, friends 😀 Hope you are all coping well. I forgot to mention that I have now officially retired from my day job. I have been really busy again at the masks but looking forward to doing something different. I have been knitting as well to send toques to the homeless. It was a bit of a transition for me to make a new routine but it's working out. Feeling a bit of cabin fever this week as we are getting our annual cold snap.

EDIT! Venting seems to be good for you LOL But I try not to abuse the privilege. Today was pretty good. A big pot of soup, loaves of bread, and a Beef Burgundy in the Crockpot accomplished today. Didn't get out for a walk as I don't like to leave with anything going like the crockpot. I even got some masks cut out.

I'm sure that at least some of you have experienced yourself or someone close getting this damned bug. My landlord and his wife winter in Arizona but only went this year as the wife had knee replacement surgery scheduled. As much as we appreciate our medical system here in Canada, the wait time for surgery like that is appalling. She called me a few days ago to tell me that her husband had died. He had told me several days before that he had tested positive. He was in the hospital for a few days but got to go home for the end.
Anyways, At that point I had a few more masks cut out and specifically promised to someone. I got them done up and sent off. But when I went to start some more, I would walk into my sewing room and "I just can't..." Whined about it on my personal page last night and actually feel a little better about it this morning. Just have to tackle a couple of projects in the kitchen this morning. Bread and soup for starters

Another round of mask making. I cut out 45 over the last couple of days. It felt like more because now we are supposed to make them three layers instead of two

More confusion. After several hours of sewing this weekend, I spot a new article in the pandemic news. Now they are saying that we should have three layers in our masks. But after checking out a couple of articles, one says that the preferred third layer (polypropylene) can be hard to track down, proper fit can be more effective than the extra layers, and one of my favourite quotes "compliance is better than perfection" Sigh
I think it's time to pack away the sewing for today and have a glass of wine.
Just did a count. I have 95 masks, of which about 75 have been sewn and trimmed, but not turned and pressed. So it wouldn't be hard to add the third layer. I will give it a couple more days and a little more research. Thoughts?

One of those days that I have been fighting with my sewing machine GAHHHH After much looking at the instructions and much Googling, twiddled and fiddled, fiddled and twiddled. I tried one thing that was never mentioned and it's humming along nicely! Yay, me!

Back to the masks tomorrow
