🌸 A little update about wedding & event florals 🌸
I wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes perspective on what goes into creating flowers for weddings, celebrations and special events.
When you order custom florals from me, I’m not simply purchasing the exact 5 or 6 stems that may end up in your bouquet or arrangement.
Flowers are ordered from suppliers in bunches, often in quantities of 10 or 25 stems at a time. There are also high shipping and freight costs, and unfortunately, not every flower arrives in perfect condition. Some may arrive damaged, broken or simply not meet the quality I want to use in your design.
That little bit of extra product is important. It gives me the ability to select the best blooms, account for loss and make sure your finished flowers look the way they should.
There is also a lot happening before your flowers ever reach my design table. 🤍
I spend time planning your colour palette, sourcing specific varieties, communicating with suppliers, calculating quantities, placing orders, processing and conditioning flowers when they arrive, designing each piece, packing everything safely and preparing it for your event. Sometimes I’m coordinating early morning pick ups before a ferry ride or seaplane flight to Haida Gwaii. Or a long trip to Smithers
And then, of course, there is the actual time, experience and creativity that goes into designing your flowers.
I don’t have a field of flowers in the backyard that I can simply walk out and cut from. I wish I did but every stem has to be sourced, ordered, shipped and paid for.
Flower prices also fluctuate significantly, especially during peak wedding season and around holidays. Last-minute orders can be even more expensive and may have limited availability.
Because of this, Moving forward, I will be having a $400 minimum for wedding and event florals. This also allows me to be more intentional about the work I take on. It gives me the opportunity to work with clients who connect with my style, Align with me, trust my creative process and value the time, experience and care that goes into what I create.
I know I won’t be the right florist for every budget or every event, and that’s completely okay. My goal is to work with clients who see the value in what I offer and allow me to give each event the attention it deserves. 🤍
This isn’t about simply selling flowers. It’s about creating something thoughtful, beautiful and personal for some of life’s most important moments.
I am also asking clients to please book their florals at least 3–4 months in advance whenever possible. This gives me the best opportunity to source what you are looking for, plan properly and keep costs as reasonable as possible.
I truly love creating flowers for your weddings, celebrations and special moments, and I want to continue providing work that I’m proud to put my name on. 🤍🌿
Thank you for understanding the value behind professionally designed florals.
