Do we really want to travel in hermetically sealed popemobiles through the rural provinces of France, Mexico and the Far East, eating only in Hard Rock Cafes and McDonalds Or do we want to eat without fear, tearing into the local stew, the humble taqueria's mystery meat, the sincerely offered gift of a lightly grilled fish head I know what I want. I want it all. I want to try everything once.

I was just walking by and heard this lovely performance. It seemed to be part of some kind of recognition ceremony, I don't know. But anyone who has seen "The List" will remember this piece.

I was really busy with sailing on the way back from Lampedusa and really didn't have time to take photos... Suffice to say, we made 10 knots sailing, and saw dolphins twice. The second sighting was a family pod with a little two or three foot baby!Which is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen in my life. I had never seen dolphins in the Strait of Sicily before. So that was really special. We arrived around 1900 that evening at the marina to do customs.

More meanderings the next day. I was impressed with the town center of this rather small town. In the evening a full moon rose. We would be sailing early the next morning.

We anchored in Guitgia Bay (one of my favorites) we set out to explore the town of Lampedusa. Although I often anchor here, I hadn't been ashore here since 2022!

After completing customs formalities, We finally cast off for The island of Lampedusa. The gateway to Europe.

With most of the checks and repairs I wanted to do this summer done and a sleek freshly painted hull, There was only one thing I really wanted to do... Get her ready to sail! I had been promising a friend here to take him out for years. Now was as good a time as any. Although it was late in the season I began to look for a weather window for a simple crossing to Lampedusa, the Italian island, 91 nautical miles away. And prepare Tecumseh to leave. She hadn't moved since September 2023... So I had some work to get her ready to sail. Especially with a passenger.
