For anyone that has been following our posts about attempted arson to the building, the assault on me at the night deposit, etc....
We are happy to report that we have finally heard back from police on all three incidents, for follow up. Brad and I are never expecting miracles, but simply to know that steps are being taken to investigate, and that is happening now.
Also, shout out to Officer Davie, who stopped by the store to check in on me after a near miss to my truck with a vehicle that was fleeing police yesterday. He definitely put public safety first in this incident, and policed in a highly professional manner. Officer Davie is also responsible for the Positive Ticket Campaign in Quesnel, that we have been happy to be a part of. Local Police Officers give Positive Tickets to kids in our community when they see them doing things like wearing a helmet when they ride their bikes, looking both ways before they cross the street, etc. The kids then bring those tickets to DeRoche Ridge Mercantile for a free Waffle Ice Cream cone. We are thrilled to offer this to our young Quesnel residents, and thank Officer Davie for his ingenuity in bringing this program back to Quesnel.
Additionally, our Mayor, Ron Paull is in the process of setting a meeting date for all of us in Quesnel to speak directly with police and city officials about the current condition of our city, and the lack of safety in our community. I will be announcing this meeting date, and truly hope all of you will attend. Hoping this can be the start of making some much needed changes to our city before its too late.
Brad and I would also like to thank Bradley Electric LTD. who has offered a complimentary install of additional cameras to our building, and Sam Simms who has donated the cameras, both who simply wish to see these criminals caught before a major incident happens that affects us all.
Additionally, we would like to thank each and every one of you who has shared similar stories, called or messaged us when they are driving by our store, and noticed anyone sketchy hanging around. It is this type of community involvment and concern that will help us take back our beautiful city.
Stay tuned for the upcoming meeting, we truly hope you will all attend.
