It could be the BMS protection, charger, controller, wiring, water damage, or another electrical issue.

That’s why we recommend diagnosing the problem before spending money on a new battery.

🚴‍♂️ Good luck to everyone riding the Valley GranFondo this Sunday! 🚴‍♀️

Over the past few weeks, we've had quite a few customers preparing for the Valley GranFondo in Langley. Whether you're tackling the 50km, 85km, or the full 120km route, here are a few last-minute reminders from our service department:

✅ Check your tire pressure the day before the ride
✅ Make sure your chain is clean and lubricated
✅ Confirm your brakes are working properly and have enough pad life left
✅ Bring a spare tube, tire levers, and a pump or CO₂ inflator
✅ Charge all lights, GPS units, phones, and e-bike batteries fully
✅ Start hydrating now, not just on race day
✅ Don't try new nutrition products on the ride if you've never used them before

For e-bike riders:
🔋 Start with a full battery
🔋 Use lower assist levels early in the ride
🔋 Save the higher assist modes for hills and later in the event
🔋 Remember that range can decrease significantly with headwinds, hills, rider weight, and higher assist settings

Most importantly, don't worry about speed or finishing times. Enjoy the scenery, pace yourself, and have fun. Completing a Fondo is an accomplishment whether it's your first 20km ride or your tenth 120km ride.

We have been very busy lately with both showroom traffic and service work as the sunny weather finally arrives ☀️🚲

We are seeing many new riders coming in looking for their first e-bike or upgrading for the summer season. We currently have lots of units on the floor ready for viewing and test rides, including commuter, fat tire, folding, cargo, and step-through models.

Our service department has also been extremely active these past few weeks. We are seeing more online-purchased bikes and brands with limited local support coming through the shop for diagnostics, repairs, tune-ups, and electrical work. Our team has been working overtime to keep turnaround times moving as quickly as possible while making sure repairs are done properly and safely.

Thank you again to everyone for the continued support and patience during the busy season.

🚲⚠️ BIKE SMART. STAY LEGAL. ⚠️🚲

We’ve been seeing an increasing number of crashes and dangerous situations involving young children riding e-scooters, electric dirt bikes, and high-powered electric vehicles around Richmond, Vancouver, Surrey, and Metro Vancouver.

This post is not about judging riders or parents. The purpose is education and safety.

As riders, parents, and local businesses, we all share the responsibility to understand the laws, safety requirements, and where certain vehicles are legally allowed to operate.

Many people do not realize:
• Standard legal e-bikes in BC are limited to 500W and 32 km/h
• Legal e-bikes must have fully operable pedals
• Electric dirt bikes and mini motorcycles are NOT legal on public roads or bike lanes
• Some e-scooters are only allowed in pilot project communities
• Safety gear, rider age, visibility, and proper training matter more than people think

At Richmond eBike, we support safe and responsible riding for everyone. Education is important as electric mobility continues growing across BC.

Most riders think the battery or motor is the problem… but many e-bike failures actually come from the controller, display, or wiring harness. 🔧⚡

At Richmond eBike, we regularly diagnose:
✔ Controller failures
✔ Display communication errors

✔ Water-damaged wiring harnesses
✔ Random shutdowns

Ever replaced your chain… and your bike still skips? 🤔

There’s a reason for that.

On most e-bikes, the chain, cassette, and drivetrain don’t wear separately — they wear **together**.

We see this every day in the shop.
A simple chain replacement turns into a full drivetrain repair because the wear was already there.

👉 From what we see:
• Replace your chain around 2,000–3,000 km → saves your drivetrain
• Wait too long → full system wear around 5,000–8,000 km

Especially on e-bikes with higher torque, this happens faster than most riders expect.
