🌿 Rural Roots is reopening! 🌿
After a week away, I’ll be back behind the counter Wednesday, August 19th — and I have to say, I’m coming back with a very full heart. ❤️
The past few days have been incredibly emotional, meaningful, and impactful for me. I had the opportunity to spend time with family, connect more deeply with my ancestry, and learn and experience things that have left me with a lot to reflect on.
One of those experiences was attending powwow.
For many Ojibwe and other Anishinaabe peoples, powwow has historically been much more than simply a gathering with dancing and drumming. These gatherings have served as important opportunities for communities to come together, maintain relationships, celebrate life, honour ancestors, share teachings, and keep culture, music, dance, language, and traditions alive. They are a time of connection — to family, community, ancestry, and the generations who came before us.
Being able to experience that surrounded by family made these last few days particularly special for me. There were moments that were joyful, moments that were emotional, and moments that I know I’ll carry with me for a long time.
And now… I’m ready to come home to Rural Roots. ☕️🌿
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding while I took this time away from the shop. I know a closed door can be disappointing, and I truly appreciate everyone who waited for me, checked in, and continued to support Rural Roots.
I’m looking forward to seeing your faces again, pouring your favourite drinks, pulling fresh baking from the oven, and getting back to doing what I love.
We’ll see you Wednesday, August 19th! ❤️
