Halfway through the baking process of our Maple Mountain cookie is when we add a whole maple cookie on top to crown this magnificent ode to mapley fall goodness! 🍁
Our Maple Mountain cookie is a maple syrup infused cookie jammed full of crushed maple crème cookies and crushed pecans that we roll in even more crushed pecans and, as mentioned, top the whole thing off with yet another maple crème cookie. Ummm… yes please!
I almost forgot to mention that these are a member of our 1/4lb cookie line up weighing in at a whopping 4oz BEFORE rolling in pecans and adding that final cookie topping.
They’ll be out of the oven in just a few minutes!!

🌾 Gluten-Free Day is underway! 🌾

To help reduce the risk of cross-contamination between our regular and gluten-free baking, I dedicate an entire day exclusively to preparing our gluten-free goodies. No regular baking happening alongside it — just a whole day of gluten-free goodness. 💚

And right now, you’re looking at the beginning of something delicious…

✨ Gluten-free tart shells! ✨

These little beauties will eventually be filled with gooey butter tart filling, lemon, jam, and all sorts of other delicious fillings, then frozen so we can bake them fresh as needed.

There’s a lot of work that happens behind the scenes before something makes it into the display case, but knowing that our gluten-free customers can enjoy a fresh, homemade treat makes it all worth it. 🥰

Stay tuned… these are going to be very good. 🥧

🧪✨ BREWING UP SOME MISCHIEF… ✨🧪

Peach soda. 💗
Blue raspberry. 💙
Watermelon cold foam. 🍉
A little edible glitter… because apparently we don’t believe in subtle magic around here. ✨

Meet The Mischief Maker — one of the latest spells from our Dirty Soda spellbook. 🔮🥤

Sweet, fruity, fizzy and just a little bit ✨bewitching✨.

And that shimmer? That’s not glitter.

That’s potion magic. 🧙‍♀️

Come let us brew you one… or step up to the cauldron and create your own concoction.

The question isn’t whether you’ll have a dirty soda.
It’s what kind of trouble you’ll put in it. 😉

🧙‍♀️✨ THE SODA SPELLBOOK IS OPEN… ✨🧙‍♀️

We’ve been quietly dabbling in a little dirty soda magic all summer, serving up a select few of our favourite concoctions—and apparently, the coven has spoken. 🔮

So we’ve decided to make it official.

Introducing the Rural Roots Dirty Soda Menu! 🥤🌙

We’ve brewed up a whole collection of enchanted combinations, from Black Cat and Full Moon to Dragon’s Breath, Witch’s Fire, Mermaid’s Secret and more.

But here’s where the real magic happens…

✨ You don’t have to follow the spellbook. ✨

Choose one of our tried-and-true concoctions, OR become the witch behind the cauldron and create your very own blend!

Pick your soda.
Choose your syrups.
Add a little cold foam magic.
Mix. Stir. Taste.

Who knows? You might accidentally brew something brilliant. 🪄

And for those watching their sugar, we’ve even got a few sugar-free potions up our sleeve.

Come see what kind of trouble you can get into. 😉

🥤 Dirty Sodas are officially part of the Rural Roots menu!

Which one will you try first? What kind of drink would you make and what would you call it?

🌿 A little piece of Garden River has made its way home to Rural Roots. 🌿

I’m so excited to introduce a new line of products from Ojibway Natural to the shop.

During my recent trip to Garden River for powwow, I had the opportunity to spend some incredibly meaningful time surrounded by family, community, ancestry, and teachings. While I was there, I discovered these beautiful natural products—and I knew I wanted to bring some home to share with all of you.

These products are made right there in Garden River, using natural ingredients and traditional medicinal herbs such as sweetgrass, sage, and cedar. They are naturally scented and infused with the plants that have held such an important place in Anishinaabe traditions for generations. 🌿

For me, bringing these products home feels like bringing back a small piece of the experience itself—a connection to the land, to tradition, and to the people and teachings I was fortunate enough to spend time with.

I’m honoured to be able to offer them at Rural Roots and to introduce you to a little more of the beauty and knowledge I encountered on my journey.

🌿 Rural Roots is reopening! 🌿

After a week away, I’ll be back behind the counter Wednesday, August 19th — and I have to say, I’m coming back with a very full heart. ❤️

The past few days have been incredibly emotional, meaningful, and impactful for me. I had the opportunity to spend time with family, connect more deeply with my ancestry, and learn and experience things that have left me with a lot to reflect on.

One of those experiences was attending powwow.

For many Ojibwe and other Anishinaabe peoples, powwow has historically been much more than simply a gathering with dancing and drumming. These gatherings have served as important opportunities for communities to come together, maintain relationships, celebrate life, honour ancestors, share teachings, and keep culture, music, dance, language, and traditions alive. They are a time of connection — to family, community, ancestry, and the generations who came before us.

Being able to experience that surrounded by family made these last few days particularly special for me. There were moments that were joyful, moments that were emotional, and moments that I know I’ll carry with me for a long time.

And now… I’m ready to come home to Rural Roots. ☕️🌿

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding while I took this time away from the shop. I know a closed door can be disappointing, and I truly appreciate everyone who waited for me, checked in, and continued to support Rural Roots.

I’m looking forward to seeing your faces again, pouring your favourite drinks, pulling fresh baking from the oven, and getting back to doing what I love.

We’ll see you Wednesday, August 19th! ❤️
