The Closet Classic treatment is Fender's way of aging a guitar the way it would look if you'd owned it for decades and actually taken care of it — light finish checking, gentle hardware oxidation, none of the deliberate rash of a full relic job. It's a guitar that looks like it's lived a careful life.

Under the aging, this is a serious instrument. Three hand-wound '69 Underwound Strat pickups, a '68-'69 "U" profile maple neck, bone nut, 6105 frets, and vintage synchronized trem. The pickups are notably dynamic — clear and airy with a responsiveness that rewards how hard you dig in.

This one's listed at $4,800 — well under what a new one costs. For a Custom Shop Strat in this condition with the full kit, that's a strong number.

1979 Gibson Les Paul Standard. To***co Sunburst. All original. Kalamazoo-built.
The flame maple top on this one is exceptional for any era — for the Norlin years, when figured tops were far from guaranteed, it's genuinely rare. This is the kind of top that makes people stop mid-sentence when you pull it out of the case.

Everything is as it left the factory in August 1979. Original T-Top humbuckers (chrome covered, still in the guitar — increasingly uncommon given how many had them pulled in the '80s for aftermarket pickups). Original Nashville Tune-o-matic, stopbar tailpiece, Schaller keystone tuners, gold speed k***s. Electronics are untouched. 46 years old and nobody has had a soldering iron inside it.

Condition is honest player-grade — buckle rash on the back, scattered small nicks, a tiny chip on the headstock tip. The top is clean. The neck has the smooth satin feel of a guitar that's been played for decades by someone who actually played it.

Nearly five decades of aging in the mahogany and maple have done what time does to good tonewoods, and that's not something you can replicate with new wood.

The late-'70s Standards don't carry the mythology of a '59 Burst, but the best examples from this era are seriously good guitars — and players are starting to give them the credit they deserve. This is one of those examples.

Fatoumata Diawara is a Grammy-nominated Malian artist, and the first woman of colour with an Epiphone signature guitar. She had a real hand in how it turned out — the artwork on the body reflects her Wassoulou heritage, and it's not decoration. It means something.

Underneath the art, it's a properly specced SG. Mahogany body and neck, ProBucker pickups, slim-taper profile, hard case included. She plays an Epiphone Muse SG herself, so the build decisions came from someone who actually performs on one.
