Another overnight rainfall β˜”οΈ looks like an inch so far. It is very dry so the moisture is appreciated for my yard but not so much for our farmers getting ready for harvest.
Most of my planters are not doing so well this year πŸ˜• I do have some that are half alive tho...some photos of my favorites to follow.
Ordering for next year is starting! I have 2 of my suppliers books to go through so far πŸ’• always fun to see what's new out there, I will post some photos when I get right into it!
Do you have a plant you would like to see in the greenhouse? Let me know, maybe I can source them for you.
I have 2 volunteer hollyhocks in my yard and yesterday I saw a hummingbird in them! So cool πŸ’ž do you have hummingbirds in your yard? What plants do you have to attract them?
Enjoy your day - rain or shine!

Its August! Where does the time go? Jeesh! We are home from 10 days of quadding out in Alberta. We had perfect weather, NO mosquitoes, and a really fun time spent with family and friends.
I certainly have a lot of work to do in my yard clearing out weeds etc!
I hope everyone had a good August long weekend!
My planters out front of the greenhouse are doing well with only a once a week watering.
Have a great week 😊 🌞

Watering the planters today, a little disappointed in the cannas - they should be a lot taller. At least the salvia is showing in some pots. The portulaca is happy as a clam 🀣

Wishing a belated Happy Canada Day to everyone! I got away for a much needed visit with my mom after the greenhouse closed. The area where my mom lives has an incredible amount of worms that are in the cacoon stage in the trees. Most of the trees have no leaves left but thousands of cacoons in each tree. They say it is the 10 year cycle for the worms and the trees should survive but it is really gross with those worms everywhere!
I drove home through some crazy weather on Friday and after seeing the pictures from Cochin area I think I was lucky.
Most of my pots at home are so saturated that the plants are really struggling and some just gave up πŸ˜• how are yours doing? Share some photos of your favorites! My big planters at the greenhouse are doing ok, with the amount of rain that we have had they should be better but believe it or not they miss alot of the rain β˜”οΈπŸ€” I watered the heck out of them this morning when we went down to finish cleaning out the pond before it got too hot! It was smoking hot in the greenhouse already by 9 am ♨️πŸ”₯ - some plastic pot liners have started melting 🫠
Anyway, show me your planters of flowers or veggies, enjoy the summer days and🀞 mother nature settles down! πŸ˜‰

Sitting here, coffee in hand, feet up , reflecting on this season. It was an interesting season for sure with weather playing a big part in it. I am forever grateful for the amazing support that we have and it makes me smile when a new customer discovers our little greenhouse and tells us how much they love it and are coming back next year. Thanks to my amazing staff that work so hard to keep everything looking good - many, many hours spent deadheading πŸ˜‰ - always giving everything to work together, have fun and make the greenhouse a good place to be. Having long term staff is a blessing and always a joy to work with. To Carol, Lorie, Susan, and Lisa - you guys are the BEST! Thank you for making my job easy! Have a great summer!
See you all next year!

Wow! What a day! We are officially closed for the season! I am heading home, trees are all gone 😲
