Why Fall is the Best—and Easiest—Time to Plant Trees
If you’ve been thinking about adding a tree or shrub to your landscape, don’t wait for spring—fall is actually the best time to plant. In fact, it’s often called the lazy-gardener’s planting season because nature does much of the work for you.
Here’s why fall planting makes so much sense:
1. Ideal Conditions for Root Growth
While the air cools in autumn, the soil stays warm well into the season. This encourages strong root development without the stress of supporting leaves or flowers. Trees focus their energy underground, building a solid foundation before winter dormancy.
