I just want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has been patient with me. I see the messages coming in and I appreciate the check ins, kind words and sign inquiries. I don’t quite have the capacity yet to take on any additional responsibilities (ie. signs) but I’m doing all of the things to take care of my physical/mental health and well-being in addition to my kiddos. I’m hopeful that I’ll get there sooner rather than later. I also wanted to say thank you to the folks that made it out to our yard sale on Saturday🫶🏼. We have had so many help us over the past year and while I could never repay everyone and I know that the expectation is not there, we are finding small ways to help others and spread the kindness. I let my oldest decide where he would like to donate the proceeds from our yard sale (a cool $163 to be exact) and he chose McMaster Children’s Hospital 🩵 They have been an integral part of our journey this year! ❤️

Made something pretty for my door. If you know me, you know I LOVE flowers, birds, making pretty things and deals! I started out with this wreath bought from Michael’s at 70% off which came to $12. I added pieces I already had on hand from previous projects/thrifting excursions. I think it turned out beautifully.

TW: EATING DISORDERS I used to be an avid reader up until my early thirties and then I found reading books to be very challenging. I couldn’t focus to save my life and while I have a beautiful shelf full of books that I’m excited to read, my follow through has been pretty stagnant. That kind of made sense once I was diagnosed w ADHD two summers ago…shout out to my youngest for helping me to connect the dots.

That said, I have never read a book faster than this one in these past ten years. I’ve learned that when it comes to my kiddos, I will focus every ounce of energy and attention that I have in order to help them, especially and particularly during a crisis. This book is THE book to help understand eating disorders, recovery and how to best support your teenager. I had a heads up from another parent that I should start reading it prior to hospitalization, so I halfheartedly began the audible a day prior. Upon my 15 yr old being admitted for severe weight loss and a critically low heart rate, McMaster gave me a hard copy of the book…I read it in three days. I’m not sure that I retained everything as I was running on adrenaline at the time but I learned some very valuable facts about ED’s and frankly what a beast they are. Between the hospital coaching me and this book, the journey towards helping my child recover began.

I’m going to pivot from my original intent with this page, so please bare with me. I simply need an outlet to share things and while painting signs has gone on the back burner, I still continue to find ways to be crafty. It’s funny how healing the arts can be whether that’s admiring a picture someone took, hearing a song that is spot on with how you’re feeling in that moment, or learning how to paint with water colours; I may not be good at it but I sure enjoy the process and it’s fun to see the progress….you should see the first few things that I tried to paint. It was all kinds of terrible and somehow flowers continued turning into fruit for unexplainable reasons but I continue to persist. It’s funny, I had this idea that I would easily learn to paint beautiful watercolour flowers and hand make watercolour thank you cards for all of the folks that I have immense gratitude for throughout the past 9 months but best laid plans. Perhaps one day I’ll get there but I’m not stressing it today. For today, it’s sharing snippets of the journey I’ve been on, celebrating the things that make my heart happy and writing about the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I just wanted to send a heartfelt thank you to those who have supported me and by extension, my little family this past year.

The latter half has been challenging and so many of you have helped us in ways that might be small to you, but meant the world to me.

Thank for making our family brighter, for making me brighter and for being your beautiful, kind, patient and caring selves.
