We want to send a huge thank you to Richard Hutton and the team at Thorold Today for taking the time to sit down with Leo and capture the 60+ year history of our family business so beautifully. ❤️🎸

From surviving fires to outfitting generations of local musicians, it has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the Niagara music community since 1964. As Leo says in the article: "We've watched kids buy their first guitars, and decades later, bring their own grandchildren into the store. You can't put a price on those memories."

While the retail storefront is taking its final bow, remember that the music lives on! Our online shop will remain open, and our lesson program, Quarter Note Music Arts is growing. 🎹✨

THIS IS IT, NIAGARA! We are officially closing our doors for good THIS SATURDAY, March 28th. Stop by 289 Glendale Ave one last time, share your favorite Thorold Music memory with us, and shop our massive final liquidation sale.

Here's the good news!

While Thorold Music is closing its doors on March 28th, Quarter Note MusicArts is staying open. We are happy to share that our mission of professional music instruction is not only continuing but has plans to grow and expand.

Our lesson studio has always been about helping people of all ages find their artistic potential. While the retail side of our journey is coming to an end, we are committed to making sure the music keeps playing here in Niagara. Our teachers are looking forward to this next step and the opportunity to build on the community we've all created together.

If you have questions about lessons or want to hear more about our plans for the future, please visit us at thoroldmusic.com/QNM. We can’t wait to see you in the halls and keep making music together.

On March 28th, we’re inviting everyone to the shop to share some memories and help us mark our final day.

Looking back at these photos from the 2008 fire, it is a reminder of a tough chapter, but the banner in the background says it all: "Enjoy Life, Play Music." Even standing among the cleanup and the damaged gear, that remained the focus. We were lucky to have a community that stepped up to help us get back on our feet so we could keep that mission going for another 18 years.

As we prepare to close the doors, we want to focus on that same spirit of playing music and enjoying the time we have left at the shop. We would love to see you on the 28th to say goodbye and celebrate the history we’ve all shared here.

Do you have any memories from the reopening or the years that followed? We’d love to hear them in the comments or see you in person on our final day.

289 Glendale Avenue was a huge step for Thorold Music

These photos show the work that went into turning this space into the home we’ve known for decades. Seeing the transition from a bare construction site to a floor finally filled with guitars and drum kits is a reminder of why we made the move. We needed a larger space to keep up with our growing community, and this location allowed us to do exactly that.

Our years on Front Street were where the heart of this shop really started to beat.

Seeing these photos of the early jam sessions and the rows of instruments reminds us that this was more than just a retail space. It was the beginning of a community that grew into something far bigger than we ever imagined.

As we look toward March 28th, we are so grateful for the foundation that was built. It set the stage for everything that followed.

As we prepare to close our doors on March 28th, we wanted to start by sharing where it all began.

These photos go back to our very beginning, starting with the Moretti family in 1955. From the produce truck to our first shop in Thorold, these moments show the start of a journey we've been lucky to share with all of you.

Seeing the old checkerboard floors and the early street performances outside Stedman’s is a reminder of how long you've been a part of our story.

Did you visit us back on Front Street? We would love to see your vintage photos or hear your stories from those early years in the comments.

After more than 60 years of sharing the joy of music, Thorold Music has made the difficult decision to close our doors.

We are profoundly grateful for the generations of musicians, families, and friends who made this store a part of their lives. Our community has been the heart of our story, and we will carry that music with us forever.
