Some however, know how to swim like Aquaman, and took the time to learn valuable skills like mouth to mouth resuscitation and CPR
Teen Dives 12 Feet To Bottom Of Pool To Save Drowning 2-Year-Old.
A Mother's Day family gathering in Georgia turned into a terrifying emergency when a 2-year-old boy quietly slipped into a swimming pool without anyone noticing.
As relatives enjoyed the celebration, little Kingston wandered into the water and sank to the bottom of the 12-foot-deep pool.
When his mother realized he was missing, she frantically searched until she spotted her son lying motionless at the bottom.
She screamed for help.
Thirteen-year-old Randy Paul Brown didn't hesitate.
Having previously taken swimming lessons and lifeguard training, Randy immediately dove into the deep pool without stopping to think.
He swam all the way to the bottom, lifted the toddler into his arms, and brought him safely back to the surface.
Family members immediately began CPR, successfully reviving Kingston before emergency responders arrived.
Kingston's mother later said Randy was the only person there who could have made the rescue.
The other adults either couldn't swim or weren't physically able to dive to the bottom of the pool.
Reflecting on the rescue, Randy admitted the experience stayed with him.
"When I went down there, he had drowned," he recalled. "His arm was laid out, and his head was on the bottom."
Despite the emotional impact, he realized the significance of what had happened.
"It's like, wow. I just saved a whole life. I just saved a whole 2-year-old life."
Thanks to Randy's courage, quick thinking, and lifesaving training, what could have been a heartbreaking tragedy became a story of hope, proving that being prepared can make all the difference when every second counts.
