Hello everyone -

Thanks for all your patience with your orders - I am only able to pack and ship on the weekend (I'm working out of town these days) and with the large volume of sale orders it took me longer than usual to get it all packed and shipped. I have just this moment finished fulfilling all orders from the last couple of weeks- (last order #7525)

I was blown away by your response to the tariff sale. It means so much that I was able to get so many pretties into so many hands. Your orders have made it possible for me to reimagine my business in the future once the trade war dust settles. I have LOTS of ideas - with you in mind.

However, with only one more weekend till the problematic new import rule goes into effect, I realized I will need need next weekend to resolve any issues with the orders that just went out. If more orders came in, I'd be in a desperate place trying to get everything sent out in time.

With that in mind, I have turned off ordering on Trulyhats.net.

I'm going to give it six months and re-examine where things stand. At that time, I should be able to at least reinstate orders to Canada, Europe, UK, and Australia, and hopefully we can look at the USA situation at that time.

Please write me if you have issues with your existing orders - I'll fix them.

Hi everyone

Due to Trump tariff changes, as of May 2, I will no longer be able to ship jewelry items into the USA for a reasonable price. He has eliminated the low value duty exemption for products made in China, and have announced a duty of either $25 or 30% of the product cost, whichever is greater. I don't think that includes brokerage fees.

Since all my jewelry components come from China and since 95% of my customers are in the USA, I expect that this will effectively end my web sales business.

I'm sad to be hovering at the end of an era with this labor of love, but the last few months have been one logistics hit after another and I just can't keep reconfiguring over and over while things are still so unstable. I promise to rise from the ashes again once the fires go out - but that may be a few years away.

So! - being the practical person I am, I'm hoping to get as much of my stock sold and into your grabby hands before the end of April, while I can still ship to you. I expect to turn off all ordering on May 2 and we will have to wait and see what happens after that.

I've just put everything on the site on sale - some things are still at 15% off, but most are 25%, 33% or 50% off I've just now set up the discounts- so let me know what errors you find.

International Shipping announcement:

Due to another change in US border policies, TrulyHats orders can no longer use USPS to ship international orders not destined for the USA. (This affects my EU, UK, and Australian customers

I had been importing shipments into the USA and then using the excellent and inexpensive USPS international shipping service to ship international packages but as of tomorrow, these packages will be turned back at the US border.

Although I can ship international orders using Canada Post, my website is currently not set up for this and (as I am my own website creator), I will need time to reconfigure everything.

In the meantime, I will be turning off international ordering until I get everything set up correctly. USA and Canada orders are currently still ok as is.

I expect more tarriff changes to arrive on April 2, and will update you then once I know how they will affect my business.

Attention - Website Ordering is back on! - and 15% off site-wide sale.

So -Trump reversed (paused) his tariff changes that were preventing my being able to ship Chinese made goods to the USA without loads of formal entry import paperwork. I can, for right now, ship orders as before. I also expect the orders that were turned back last week to go out on Monday - to the original addresses.

The pause order is only temporary. Any day now I could be once again unable to fulfill orders to the USA - or I may be able to - but there will be 35% duties owed plus brokerage fees, none of which I will be able to mitigate for you. It's impossible to say.

With that in mind - NOW is the time to order jewelry items while I know they can ship. Order NOW and order all you may need.

To help you out- I have just turned on my first ever site-wide sale - everything is 15% off. Fabrics - jewelry - everything. I will keep the sale on through the end of February, or until I have to turn ordering back off, whichever is first.

Attention: All TrulyHats orders are on hold due to new Trump tariff changes.

The orders I filled yesterday were all turned back at the US border. My jewelry products are manufactured in China and as of yesterday, they can no longer enter the USA under the same low-value customs clearance rules as before. All shipments now must have duties paid, regardless of the value. The extra costs of the goods are not the biggest problem- it’s the cost of doing the paperwork and the permits required to clear them myself.

When I get home tonight, I will be shutting off all non Canadian orders from the website until I can figure out what needs to change.

I will try to find a way to ship the orders that are already paid for, but I may have to hire a customs broker, which will take time and possibly be prohibitively expensive. If I cannot, I’ll issue prompt refunds.

I’m a little bit in shock right now, trying not to see this as the end of my business. I’m trying to find a way forward -please bear with me.

The brand new, custom made Elizabeth I replica ouches are finally here, and I LOVE them!

It's so exciting to offer this new style of Tudor Jewel that I have not seen recreated anywhere else. I'm just delighted!

Made to be as close as possible to the ones shown in the 1570- 1580 portrait of Elizabeth I in the National Portrait Gallery, these are nice quality plated zinc alloy costume jewelry with acrylic stones, just like my other ouches. I love how she just has them all over the place.

They are a little larger than my standard ouches, measuring 1.25" across, and just over 1/4" high, with four loops on the back so they can be strung on two wires, or sewn onto garments. They can also be joined at the filigree loops using W crimps or jump rings, and the holes in each of the points allow them to hang like a pendant or have a a pearl dangle off each one - the options are many!

I currently have 1000 of each color (red and black) in both the antique gold and black finish, and 250 of each in a bright gold finish.
