WELCOME EVERYONE!!!!!! You made it!!!! It is good to see you. So many things going on, honestly my head is spinning most days and if it wasn't for Mary Mellor and Lauren Elizabeth, I don't think I would make it through the week. True to our nature it is our intention to take things slow, we dip our toes in to check the water and then a gust of merry wind comes out of no where picks us up and dumps us in the deep end, "sink or swim girls" is what it seems to say as those merry little winds go tripping off happily over the hill. So here we are.
If anyone isn't aware of what we do, basically, in a nut shell, we take "new to us" textile and turn it into things than can be worn or used and loved again. We are a woman owned, woman run business and we support other women in business by carrying their upcycled products in the store as well.
Did you know approx. 5 million tons of textiles going into our landfills every year in Canada, yes, you read that correctly, and, we recycle less than 1% of that. This number is unacceptable as far as I am concerned, some developing countries recycle more textile than we do. We can do better than this, but how? Our approach is to acquire as much usable textile as possible and to turn it into wearable/usable items and completely avoiding the landfill. Stay tuned and you will see just what we do with these textiles.
Everything we make is offered for sale at our seasonal store at AREA 506 in Saint John, NB and our soon to be year round store/studio at 82 Germain St, Saint John as well as on line once we have our website up and running.
