The Sewist Mastering the Art of Fabric Mastering the art of fabric since 2012, we are a sewing studio and fabric store dedicated to providing a creative space for our thriving sewing community!

I am a self taught seamstress who learned the love of sewing from my mom and grandmother. I love to create for my two children, and I love the fulfillment that I get when I see how much they enjoy what I make, and receive compliments from friends and strangers. I want to share that sense of accomplishment and pride with my students. The options for sewing instruction these days are limited, but the need and desire for it is great (just look at Etsy or Pinterest), I want to help make sure that the art and skill of sewing is passed onto the next generation by helping create confident, self-reliant, and skilled sewists.

The more you learn, the more your sewing options suddenly get a whole lot bigger. 🧵

Our 3-week Circle Skirt class starts October 1st. You’ll learn how to draft your own circle skirt pattern and make a sampler skirt while getting hands-on with the process.

The best part? You’re not just learning how to make one particular skirt. Once you understand the basics, you can change the length, adjust the fullness, add pockets, experiment with different fabrics, or take the idea in a completely different direction!

We’re excited to offer this class to anyone who wants to add a versatile skill to their sewing toolbox and have more freedom to make what they actually want to wear.

One class. One very useful skill. A whole lot of possibilities!

The grind has officially begun, and our students are already busy figuring out their game plan for their first market in December.

There's lots to do between now and then, but for now we’re so excited to see them set goals they’re dead set on achieving and watch them work towards making it happen! ✂

Today marks the first day of our Kids & Teens classes for the new school year- and we’re kicking off something new, too!

We had our very first Merry Market Makers class today! Throughout the year, these young makers will be designing, sewing, and creating products for their own little businesses, with the goal of selling what they make at markets along the way.

We can’t wait to see what they come up with! 👀🧵
