I really didn’t think I would be starting my week with a post like this… 🙁
This weekend I was actually starting to plan ahead, thinking about Doironville, what we want to do next, improvements we want to make and just getting excited about everything ahead.

Then I drove into work this morning and honestly my heart just sank. Sometime Thursday night, someone—or more than one person—decided to come onto our property and rip out and steal all of the extension cords and power we had running our lights for Doironville… Thousands of dollars…

Unfortunately Thursday night was pouring rain and there was so condensation on our cameras that we just can’t get a good enough look at who did it.

Thankfully, the good people we meet every day FAR outweigh the people who do things like this.

My first thoughts about the people who did this weren’t very nice.
But the more I’ve thought about it, the more I’ve actually found myself feeling sad about the whole thing.

Because I don’t know your story.. I don’t know why you did it. And I don’t know if drugs or addiction had anything to do with it.

But we all know what addiction is doing to people and families around us. We’ve all seen somebody who was doing great and then watched drugs completely change the direction of their life.

That’s something I talk about with my kids.I try to teach them that none of us are invincible..Sometimes you’re a bad decision away from a completely different life. One bad decision turns into another. You start hanging around different people.Maybe drugs get involved. Maybe you’re struggling with something nobody else knows about.

And suddenly you’re doing things you probably never imagined yourself doing. Maybe even ripping wire out of somebody’s business in the pouring rain in the middle of the night for whatever money you can get out of it.

I don’t say that to judge you. Actually, it’s the opposite. If that’s where you’re at in life right now, I genuinely feel bad for you. Because whatever we lost Thursday night can be replaced.

The extension cords can be replaced. The electrical can be repaired. The lights will go back up. The thousands of dollars will hurt, but we’ll make it back…We’ll be okay. But if you’re at a point where drugs, addiction, desperation or whatever you’re dealing with has you doing this kind of thing…

I hope you find your way out. Because your life is worth a hell of a lot more than the few dollars you’re going to get from some stolen wire.
And if you happen to see this, I want you to know something else. What you did hurt people. It hurt me. It hurt our staff. It hurt something we’ve spent years working incredibly hard to build.

We’re not some giant corporation where nobody notices when something disappears. We’re a local business. There are real people behind these doors. People with families. People who come in early, stay late and care about this place.

We try to give back to this community every chance we get. We help teams, kids, tournaments, families, fundraisers and organizations. Sometimes we probably say yes when we should say no...

That’s just who we are. So seeing somebody from our own community do this is heartbreaking. And I also can’t stop thinking about the family of whoever did it. Maybe there’s a mother worrying about you. Maybe there’s a father who hasn’t heard from you.

Maybe there are people who remember who you were before things started going sideways and they’re desperately hoping to get that person back.

And whatever is going on in your life that brought you to our property that night, I genuinely hope you figure it out before something happens that you can’t undo.

Life can change pretty damn fast.

Make the next decision a better one. ❤️

Sweater weather and STRIPER FISHING! 🔥

I know Alex is going to be mad at me for posting this… but 🙂🎣

WHAT. A. DAY.

You always hear fishermen talk about “the one that got away.” Well… now we officially have one of those stories. 😂

And unfortunately, I’m taking the blame for this one… We hooked into an absolute MONSTER. The kind of fish where, the second you see it, your heart starts pounding and everything you thought you knew about landing a fish suddenly disappears. 😂

She came in… we saw her… and she was HUGE.
Without question, it would have been the biggest fish we have ever landed.

And then I got a little too excited. 🤦‍♂️😂

I did not set the net downriver… She touched the net, the hook popped out… and we just stood there watching as this absolute giant slowly swam away. 😭🎣

The silence afterward was something else.

Would I have loved to get a picture holding that fish? YES. Would Alex have loved it if I knew how to use a net properly? Also YES. 😂😂

But that’s fishing.

As painful as it was watching her disappear, it created one of those memories we’re going to talk about for a LONG time. “Remember that monster you lost with the net?”

Yep… I have a feeling I’ll be hearing that one for years. 😂 What a fish. What a day. What a memory.

Now there’s only one thing left to do…

GO FIND HER AGAIN. 🎣🔥

Because somewhere out there is the biggest fish we’ve ever hooked…

…and next time, Alex might be running the net. 😂😂😂

Carter, I just want to say thank you.

Thank you for caring about this place, our customers, and the people around you. Thank you for the hard work, the laughs, the conversations, and all the memories.

People come and go through a business, but every once in a while, someone leaves a mark that goes well beyond the job. You’re one of those people.

We’re going to miss you around here..

Keep working hard, keep being yourself, keep caring, and go after whatever comes next.

Thank you!

Let’s give Carter some love!!!

❤️ THIS IS WHAT COMMUNITY LOOKS LIKE. ❤️

I don’t even know where to begin.

First, a huge congratulations to Dawn Joudrey, the winner of our jersey fundraiser! Dawn chose the signed Bobby Orr jersey. 🏒

But the real story here is what all of YOU did.

Our community came together for Avery and his family in a way that is hard to put into words. Friends. Family. Teammates. Coaches. Customers. Local businesses. People who know Avery personally and people who have never even met him.

You bought tickets. You shared the post. You sent messages. You prayed. You donated. You showed up.

Together, we raised an incredible $5,050.

And then, late last night, I received a message from an old friend ❤️ who wants to remain anonymous. They told me they had been watching what this community was doing for Avery and wanted to match $5,000 of what we raised.

That means together we raised…

$10,050 FOR AVERY AND HIS FAMILY. ❤️

Think about that…. What started as a simple idea to help take a little pressure off a family going through something unimaginable turned into more than $10,000 because an entire community decided to rally around one of its own.

That is Saint John. That is our baseball family. That is our sports community. That is what happens when people care about each other. There are no words big enough to thank every single person who helped make this happen.

Avery, stay strong buddy. ❤️

You and your family are not walking through this alone. There is an entire community standing behind you, cheering for you, praying for you and fighting alongside you.

This is community. ❤️

❤️ Please share and help us rally around Avery Sherriff-Craft and his family❤️

THANK YOU!!! to everyone!! Keep Sharing, Praying and if you can ....So far $3500!! AMAZING

This one hits very close to home.

Avery is just 15 years old and is one of Alex’s baseball teammates. I’ve coach Avery this year, and he is a truly great young man. Avery has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and is now at the IWK receiving treatment. In what feels like an instant, life has completely changed for Avery and his family. At 15 years old, he should be thinking about baseball, his teammates, friends and enjoying being a kid not fighting leukemia.

We want to do whatever we can to help take a little bit of the pressure off his family while Avery focuses on the fight in front of him. We’re holding a fundraiser where one lucky winner will get their

CHOICE of one of three incredible signed hockey jerseys:

🏒 Auston Matthews Signed Jersey
🏒 Alexis Lafrenière Signed Jersey
🏒 Bobby Orr Signed Jersey

Tickets are $20 each

E-transfer: [email protected]

I will post names as soon as transfers come in! Please include your name and phone number with your e-transfer so we can make sure your tickets are entered.

Let’s show Avery and his family just how strong our baseball and sports community can be when one of our own needs us. Every ticket helps
Every share helps. Every Prayer. Every bit of support matters. ❤️
