The bittersweet notes and quick aftertaste of these fruits can be enjoyed in very light roasts or sometimes in the balanced flavoured notes of high-acidity coffees.

Meet and hear from the sisters behind Las Chicas del Cafe, Maria and Val. Coffee has defined their family for four generations.

"Coffee for me always represented family, moments in life, coffee is comfort for me, "a hug in a mug". Growing up seeing my dad's passion for our family coffee farm, the influence coffee has had through the generations in our family, it forged a path for me and allowed my passion and drive to continue forward. Seeing the critical role women play in coffee production, the role of family and community, it truly is an honour to be part of something so much bigger than me.

Starting Las Chicas Del Cafe brought our family's coffee heritage from growers, to importers, to Roasters, bringing full circle multiple generations of coffee lovers in our family!" - Val

Meet and hear from the sisters behind Las Chicas del Cafe, Maria and Val. Coffee has defined their family for four generations.

Maria began her entrepreneurship journey more than 25 years ago. She is one of the few women in Canada who is the decision maker in all of her coffee companies from plantation to cup. Maria personally sources all of her coffee in Nicaragua, through her importing company Aroma Nica. She is behind the roaster at Las Chicas del Cafe. She also brews and retails at her own espresso bar, Streamliners Espresso Bar in St. Thomas. ☕

Maria is a proud mom to two phenomenal young women, who are leaving their own footprints in their coffee journey. Maria has made Canada her home for over 30 years while keeping strong connections to her roots in Nicaragua. Maria is grateful of the opportunities she has had living in Canada and shows her appreciation by giving back to the community whenever she has the opportunity.

Recently, Las Chicas del Cafe celebrated 20 years with a special anniversary blend, 2005. Know that when you are brewing this blend and sharing it with your friends and family, you’ll be tasting twenty years of gratitude for every cup of Las Chicas Del Cafe you’ve ever bought!
