tending to willow🌀
to be part of the whole circle of a craft.
deeply nourishing. holistic
it’s right on top of the list of the things that bring me the most joy in the world.
that feeling we get from spending time in the garden, same.
this is year two of harvest on the cultivated patch in QC and year three of planting. we finished harvesting in March & planting is happening now!:)
1 - making cuttings of Belgium red from the bigger branches I harvested. super branchy. trying to believe it won’t stay branchy for ever.
2- this year harvest and the second one since starting the plantation in 2024. much more productive then last year. Wihoooo!!! see last photo for comparison. in both cases, bigger rods have been kept for making new cuttings to expand the plantation and not part of the photos. the colourful willow to the far right is from the wild patch.;)
3- cutting open the holes in the landscape fabric so it won’t choke the willow plant (X 6000) + dried liver snack to cheer me up on the task. I now plant in a different type of ground cover to avoid this problem.
4- making cuttings of black maul for the new patch
5 & 6 - the beginning of the harvest last November just before the big snow came.
7- more more & more cuttings (for the black maul patch of my dreams) + prepping holes for planting.
8- the most wonderful & incredibly helpful man of my dreams in front of the wild patch holding more black maul cuttings. ❤️
9- the very humble first harvest of winter 2025 :)
viva willow!
may you grow & spread beauty far & wide.
may we all fill our days and life’s with the things that bring big joys to our hearts🌀
