Late morning fishing at Kettle Point produced a 10ish Chinook and and big walleye. Both on dipsey with Silver streak MF.

We get on Facebook and see pictures of nice fish. But most of time is spent like this.
We had new CFL center Mitchell Schechinger, Ralf's son, out the first day and got skunked.
The next day we managed an 11.5 salmon and got on the board briefly.
The next few days we worked hard for few fish.
No one was excited to get back out. But you can't give up. A big fish changed everything. High fives, hugs, and excited to go again.
You'll have time to talk about everything with, for me, friends I've fished with for over 40 years.

Been tough fishing but hit a nice rainbow Saturday morning. An orange and chartreuse streak on 4 colors out. Near the outer can. Good luck today!

Lake trout off KP in 70 ft water. Kevorkian spoon down 40ft. Small coho on same thing. Lost a good fish on a dipsey pulling a MF. Wish we had something to brag about. Good luck and stay warm.

Saturday afternoon east of the outside can at Kettle point in 70ft of water. The 11.5 lb king came off a silver streak Kerkorian. 2 rainbows , 4.7 and 4.8lbs were on the orange crush. We ran everything shallow after seeing loons diving on baitfish. Wasn't the best afternoon but it was sure fun to hear a runaway reel for change. Good luck!

ENTRY FEE / TICKETS / INFORMATION
Bluewater Angler Members are free. Just show up. Non-Members need to buy a $10 derby ticket. Tickets will be available at The Outdoorsman until 5:30pm on Friday April 24, 2026.

ELIGIBILITY
The club event is open to both boat and shore anglers. If fishing from a boat, all people fishing must either be a member or have a ticket or the boat will be disqualified. All shore anglers must be a member or have a ticket.

BOUNDARY
Boundaries are the same as those for the Bluewater Anglers Salmon Derby … in the St. Clair River south to the south end of Fawn Island ... in Lake Huron north to latitude 43’20” (from the water treatment plant at Grand Bend west to north of Lexington, Michigan).

WEIGH IN
Weigh-in is at the hatchery between 4:00 pm-4:30 pm. You must be in line by 4:30 pm or your fish will not be weighed. Limit of one entry per category per person.

ELIGIBLE SPECIES
Walleye, Rainbow trout, Brown trout, Lake trout, and Chinook, Atlantic and Coho salmon.

PRIZES
Cash prizes will be awarded for the 3 heaviest eligible fish entered in each category.

Shore Category
First: $100.00
Second: $75.00
Third: $50.00

Boat Category
First: $100.00
Second: $75.00
Third: $50.00

NOTE: A bonus $100.00 prize will be awarded to the Bluewater Angler member who enters the biggest fish.

Draw prizes will be awarded to derby entrants. You must be present at the weigh-in to win a draw prize.
