Happy Pride Month everyone!!! Pride is something that should be celebrated all year round! While this is a month of celebration we must also remember how Pride started. The Stonewall Riots are a significant part of 2SLGBTQIA+ history. These protests were led by trans women of colour and drag queens. This is a time to honour the contributions of those who came before and helped build the foundation we have today. We get to celebrate them and all the other people who make up the community. People who live unapologetically and be who they are! It is also important to remember that not everyone is comfortable or in a safe place to come out. We celebrate those people as well! At The Book Keeper we are always trying our best to be a safer space for everyone whether it’s in person, online or out in our community. We are always learning and striving to be the best versions of ourselves that we can be. We see you and we support you. Happy Pride!!!

Thank you for celebrating Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month with us! It has come to an end for 2026. We are so grateful that we were able to take the time this month to highlight these marginalized communities. We will continue to do so for any marginalized communities. Uplifting and celebrating other communities and cultures is extremely important to us. Remember to spread kindness for those around you!

The Poppy War is a grisly historical military fantasy inspired by the bloody history of China’s twentieth century.

It is visceral, heartbreaking, and enraging. The protagonist Rin is extremely complex and resilient. She is full of fury and that fire inside her only continues to grow as the novel progresses.

This is the first book in a completed trilogy.

This is R.F Kuang’s debut novel and by far my favourite book she has written. That is why I (Brianne) have chosen it as my book club pick for June. So if you’d like to join me in a discussion about this amazing book come to book club on June 9th at 7pm at the store!
