From my personal collection, for sale is my Gliga Lion Head violin with a bone nut, inlaid fingerboard, fresh Tonica strings, a new ebony chin rest and tail piece, as well as Wittner Fine Tune pegs to make tuning in the fly a breeze!

Truly a one of a kind instrument that I have loved since 2020, it has a wonderful fiddlers tone - a good balance between punch and warmth, nice projection, and is a work of art in itself. My students and I named this fiddle Sebastian.

From Gliga’s description of their Maestro line of violins:

“This violin stands out with its intricately carved lion's head scroll, a symbol of strength and elegance. Crafted from carefully selected tonewoods, the instrument offers a rich, resonant sound that meets the demands of advanced musicians and collectors alike. Each Gliga Maestro violin undergoes a meticulous setup to ensure optimal playability and tonal quality. Experience the deep, warm tones and striking visual appeal that make this violin a true work of art. Perfect for the discerning violinist seeking an instrument with character and history.

* Hand-Carved Lion's Head Scroll: A carved lion's head replaces the traditional scroll, giving the instrument a unique look.
* Double Purfling: Intricate double inlaid purfling frames both the top plate and back, accentuating its contours.
* Highly Flamed Tonewoods: Crafted with a tight, straight-grained spruce top and a striking two-piece back made of deeply flamed maple with a pronounced tiger-stripe pattern.
* Rich Warm Varnish: Finished in a warm, golden-amber oil varnish that highlights the depth of the wood grain and flame.”

Available for $3000, or $3500 as an outfit.

Viewing available upon appointment.

I’m looking to rehome this lovey Lion Scroll violin of mine, made by Gliga, that former students know as Sebastian.

It is easy to play, in excellent shape, and has been well loved the last 8 years it’s called my case home.

It features upgraded Wittner Fine Tune Pegs, and will get a new sound post, tail piece, chin rest, as well as a fresh set of Tonica strings for the sale.

It has a striking one piece back, double purfling, and is made of Carpathian maple and spruce, hand made in their Romanian workshop. It has a nice response and tone, and a striking bone nut, fingerboard inlay, and antiquing done by other hands.

It can come with a nice used carbon fibre bow and a nice used case for an additional $500.

The violin itself is available for $3000.

I will update with current photos once it is ready to be examined in person.

Thanks for looking and please message me any questions and inquiries you may have.

This was a fun repair to complete!

The button on this violin had broken, so after a discussion with its owner, we opted for a button patch, alongside regraduating the top, various cracks, rib repair, and a new setup.

This was a challenge for me at the time, and I have a few more hanging on the wall with broken buttons that are calling my name.

This guitar came in with a buzz that no one could find.

Over time, the balls of the strings had dug so far into the bridge plate and chewed it up, causing this very annoying buzz.

Working within the client's budget, we opted for a brass plate to be installed for the balls to rest against, some saddle work, glued a crack, and put on some new strings.

Now, it's ready to head back out for a summer of many campfire jams!

Just finished up my first batch of mute pedals!

Created specifically for fiddlers who, like myself, may find themselves switching instruments for alternate tuning mid-show this upcoming festival season.

Don't have a pedal board? That's ok! Each comes with a 9v battery adapter to run the LED. End up with a dead 9 volt? No worries! They run with or without power!

Sturdy, durable, and extremely portable - they fit in most fiddle case compartments.

After a final quality control run tomorrow, five of these six will be soon available for sale for $50 each.

(Blue Ring, Blue Dot, & Green Ring are sold.)

So a few years ago, you all saw my post regarding the "amazing Cigar Box Strad" I posted for April Fools, but fool you not, today I had the honour of joining my friend Anton in viewing the Amati Quartet at the University of Saskatoon.

Thank you to my friend Kimia for helping me connect with the collection, and Dr. Mathieu for arranging the visit for Anton and I.

Pretty surreal morning - I wish I had a real camera on me and an additional few hours of visiting time.

You can read more about the collection here:

In order of appearance:

Smuggled out of France for safekeeping during the Second World War, the 1627 violin was made by Antonio and Girolamo. It was later owned by the concertmaster of the London Philharmonic in England.

The 1637 violin made by Nicola Amati previously belonged to a world renowned soloist: Australian concert violinist Daisy Kennedy.

Made by Antonio and Girolamo Amati in 1607, the viola was commissioned by the Italian Borghese family, whose head at the time was Pope Paul V. The Borghese family coat-of-arms is painted on the back of the viola.

The cello was made in 1690 by Girolamo Amati II, and was lost for decades in an attic in the Earl of Plymouth’s Castle in England, along with other fine instruments. On the back of the cello, a red seal depicts the joint arms of the Earl of Plymouth and the Clive family of India, commemorating an earlier marriage in the family.
