A post to honour/open the heart chakra this weekend. In a healing and peace focused meditation today, a buddhist reflection was shared about the longest journey being a journey of 6 inches: from the navel to the heart (solar plexus to heart chakra). That struck me, as recently I have been wrestling with balance and healing (both emotionally as well as physically) between those two chakras in particular. This weekend has been full of beautiful company and conversation - much uplifting; some challenging; all enlightening. As I left my midday session, I found myself strolling through my old neighborhood, basking in the Springtime sun and delighting in surprise encounters with dear friends along the way. I ended up stopping in a new cafe that had popped up since the pandemic (appropriately titled La bonne nouvelle) and, while discussing the challenges and lessons that accompany living with anxiety, began to notice all the gentle, tender, heart-centric images, energy and colours around me. So, from my heart to all of yours, I share a few of those images with you. I hope they brighten your day as much as they did mine.

Reposting this image in thanks to the customer who purchased the suncatcher inspired by Johnny Marceland's painting "Love" and, thereby, made a significant donation to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society and local organization Iskwewuk E-wichiwitochik (Women Walking Together). ALL proceeds from the sale of this piece are donated to those two organizations. It was a piece that sat very close to my heart - especially as it was designed to channel Sun teachings from West Coast legends. Chi Meegwetch to this woman that I, unfortunately, did not have the pleasure to meet in person. And to for always promoting love through his work and life and to everyone for their endless support of local artisans and artists and the community at large.

"Channeling a sunburst motif (For many West Coast cultures, the Sun symbol represents life-giving abundance with its warmth radiating healing and peace. It is said to have been freed and given back to the earth and humankind by the Raven.), I used Moonstone (a stone of “new beginnings” and inner growth and strength) to represent and honour our "shadow" sides and soothe some of the emotional instability and stress from this past year while simultaneously attracting success and good fortune. Following the Moonstone in an alternating pattern is Carnelian and Rhodocrosite to balance the Sacral and Heart chakras, dispel any fear we may be carrying, increase our openness to abundance, love and positive energies and amplify determination and courage in pursuit of our deepest desires and goals. And finally, because legends suggest that one can reach the sun by climbing a chain of arrows and then return to Earth by sliding down those same rays, diamond shaped Lapis Lazuli (representing the night sky and moments where the warmth and light of the Sun may feel far off) to help us connect with our deepest inner truths and improve our communication and relationship with self and others."
