This day on the calendar always feels a bit bittersweet. Those summer days we dream of all year long, are now on the verge of being over once again.

This summer I tried to be intentional to do things a bit out of my routine every day, even if it was very insignificant. Such as walking a new route that I don’t normally walk (university drive❤️) or ordering a new drink at a cafe that I wouldn’t normally order (lemon meringue matcha😋) or weaving on my balcony on a warm summer evening😍. I had read that making at least one new memory every day “can significantly improve mood, memory and overall well-being”.

So my husband and I have been working at that and I do think I can look back at summer of 2026 as being a really good one! How about you? Any sweet summer memories to share? Feel free to comment below or message me. I’d love to hear!

If matching mittens for your crew is on your list this year, I just added lots of great options to my online shop! Our thumbless baby size on a string fits up to 18 months. Toddler size also on a string fits 2-4 years. Extra small for kids age 5-10 and small, medium or large for the adults. If there’s a pair you love but don’t see another size in the same fabric, please ask. I might be able to make it for you.

Had a very busy and productive day with my assistant. Even squeezed in a short walk on this lovely day! Now my studio shelves are stacked mile high with mitten pieces cut from wool sweaters, ready for me to sew, sew, sew while Joy is away on grandma duty for a few weeks. There’s a feeling of fall on the horizon and we are working hard getting ready for the season ahead. For those that are new here, welcome! All of our mittens are handmade by myself and my assistant here in Saskatoon. They are recycled from wool sweaters purchased in local, not for profit thrift stores, most often already shrunk from a laundry mishap. We are only too happy to save them from going to the landfill and re-made into some warm & cozy mittens just for you, your family and friends this winter! Each pair unique and one of a kind.

While still trying to squeeze in making summer memories with my friends & family on these beautiful August days, my evenings are usually spent in front of the sewing machine. Currently working on this next batch of medium size mittens. These are our most well loved size so there will be many more to come!
