Fuel Good Day is one week away! On Sept. 15, fill up at any participating Co-op gas bar and help fuel your community. A minimum of five cents per litre sold will be donated to a registered charity or non-profit organization in your local area.

We’ve been talking about the future of co-operatives. Now we’re asking the next generation to help us challenge it.

Across Canada, co-operatives have built strong businesses and communities. Yet the model remains far less understood and used than its potential suggests.

With generous support from Alberta Co-operative Energy (ACE) and Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL), ACCA is taking the next step in Business Not As Usual with the launch of the Co-op Futures Challenge, a national case competition that puts a big question in the hands of post-secondary students:

Why is one of the strongest business models hardly being used in Canada?

We’re not asking students to promote the co-operative model. We’re asking them to investigate it.

Students from across Canada will dig into the barriers, systems and assumptions influencing co-operative adoption and develop their own evidence-informed ideas about what could change.
