Tomorrow, we pause to remember the children who never returned home from residential schools, honour Survivors and their families, and recognize the lasting impacts residential schools continue to have on Indigenous communities.
Truth and Reconciliation asks more of us than simply remembering. It asks us to listen, learn, reflect, and take meaningful action. It is an opportunity to learn about the true history of residential schools, the strength and resilience of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples, and the ongoing journey toward reconciliation.
Wearing orange is one way to show that we remember and that Every Child Matters — but reconciliation is something we must carry with us every day. 🧡
We encourage everyone to take some time tomorrow to learn, listen to Indigenous voices, reflect on what we have learned, and consider what meaningful reconciliation can look like in our own communities.
