On October 7, Robert stopped by the shop in Sherwood Park with his ENVO D50.

He had just finished a morning ride along the gravel path lined with golden aspens and red dogwood behind our store.

He told us that fall is his favourite season to ride because the air is cool and the trail colours are at their peak.

Cooler gravel and damp leaves mean tire pressure and brake response need to be dialed in.

Taking time to dial in those details keeps every ride smooth and secure as conditions shift.

That is why we help riders prepare their e-bikes for the changing season.

Then it was back to the golden aspens and red dogwood for Robert and his Sherwood E Bike.

A rider about my age stopped by the shop today after riding through the river valley.

He had clipped a tree stump on the trail and heard a steady clicking noise coming from the rear wheel with every turn.

When you hit a stump and hear a rhythmic click, it is easy to assume the worst. A bent rim, a damaged hub, or a ruined motor are the first worries that come to mind.

I put the bike up on the stand to take a look right away. The impact had simply jarred the plastic spoke reflector loose, and it was sliding against the spoke as the wheel turned.

That is why we always take the time to check the simple things first.

A quick adjustment, a turn of a screwdriver, and he was rolling back down the trail with a wide smile and complete peace of mind.

I cannot imagine a better business than owning a bike shop.

A couple of ladies came in to pick up accessories, another lady stopped by for her complimentary service work, folks walked in needing minor service work, and customers called back after shopping last Saturday.

A customer walked into our Sherwood Park shop on Saturday looking to rent an e-bike for Sunday.

We suggested he take a test ride on our cruiser bikes first. Once he got on the bike and felt the smooth ride, he decided right then to purchase a new ENVO ST50.

Every bike we sell goes through a thorough pre-delivery inspection and setup before it rolls out the door. We do not rush that safety inspection to push inventory, which meant his new bike could not be ready for a same-day ride.

Rather than leaving him without a ride for the weekend, we set him up with a no-charge rental bike so he could still enjoy his Sunday ride.

He picks up his brand new ENVO ST50 this week, fully tuned and ready to go.

When a rider hears a faint rattle from a fender or rear rack, the first instinct is often to grab an allen key and tighten that bolt as hard as possible.
It feels like tighter means safer.

Most frame eyelets are made of soft aluminum, and the mounting bolts are small M5 hardware. Cranking them down with brute force can strip the internal threads or snap the bolt head off completely. What started as a small rattle turns into drilling out a broken bolt or tapping new threads into the frame.

The proper fix does not require heavy force:

A dab of blue medium strength threadlocker such as Loctite 242 on the threads

Snug the bolt to spec, around 4 to 6 Nm

The threadlocker keeps road vibrations from loosening the bolt, and the aluminum threads on your frame stay intact.

If you ever hear a rattle and want a second set of eyes on it, drop by the shop.

Right behind our shop is a 1KM winding test trail that transitions from asphalt to grass, dirt, and trees.

People looking at fat tire bikes in the shop often assume they will feel heavy, clumsy, or sluggish.
