Welcome home, Millie Violet 💜

Our tiny girl (7 lbs 2 oz) arrived on February 20th — nine days late and right in the middle of what I’m pretty sure was the snowiest weekend in St. John’s since Snowmageddon.

We love her so much already… her snuggles, her little noises, the way she smells, and listening to music together. The list goes on and on.

I started SWBB when I was 21 years old (I’ll be 30 in a few weeks), early into my Bachelor of Commerce at MUN, with very low expectations.

The year after launching my website, I started doing markets, and things really began to grow. During my entrepreneurial work term, I opened my first pop-up shop in Gander for two weeks. Shortly after, I spent a semester in the UK and traveled Europe for four months — sparking one of my greatest passions in life. Fresh out of university, we opened a storefront that ran for four incredible years, working alongside staff who impacted me for life. Eventually, I made the decision to close that location to right-size the business and find better work-life balance.

Alongside all of this, life was happening too. I met my now-husband, we got a second dog, bought our first home, eloped in California, bought our second home — and now we’re here, preparing to welcome our first baby in just seven weeks.

None of this would have been possible without you. Your support over the past 8.5 years has allowed me to build a life I’m incredibly thankful for. SWBB has been a ginormous part of my life, and every year I’m overwhelmed with gratitude that I get to do this as my career.

This will be my last post for a while. As we prepare to welcome our daughter, I’ll be stepping away on maternity leave to rest after an extremely busy holiday season. The website is closed, auto-responses are on, and I’m officially checking out.

Stepping away was scary. When you’re a one-woman business, if you stop, everything stops. But after 8.5 years, I trust that the community I’ve built will be here when I return in the fall — many of you have been here since day one.

As entrepreneurs, letting go is hard, but I work to live — not live to work. This time with my daughter is something I’ll treasure forever.

Thank you for supporting me, my family, and my dream. This is what supporting local truly looks like.

ONLINE ORDERING — you still have time but we need to chat details

👉 Gander: You have until tomorrow (Thursday) night to get your order in for pickups this weekend.

👉 St. John’s: Orders are being filled within 24 hours, but if you need it sooner just send me a message.

🚨 This part is VERY important:
St. John’s orders must be picked up before December 22nd. When? Literally whenever works for you — I’m super flexible with pickup times. I just won’t be doing pickups December 22nd onward, so if you have an order with me (or plan to place one), please reach out so we can set a time.

Lastly!! These are my last few days of filling orders before I wrap up for maternity leave. Even if you’re stocked for Christmas but think you’ll need something in the next 7–8 months, please place your order ASAP 🙂 The website will close December 21st, auto out-of-office replies will be on, and this 32-week pregnant lady will be signing off with a plate full of Christmas cookies 🍪

Newfie Slush Whipped Soap is BACK 🤍 I just added a few to the website (and by a few… I mean only 4) in our best-selling Orange Creamsicle scent 🍊

There are lots of other scents to choose from too—Pineapple Crush, Snow Fairy, Fuzzy Peach, and more! These are PERFECT for stockings or gifting, and they can be used as a shaving cream, body wash, or hand wash.

SWBB is at the SPCA Last-Minute Market today from 10am–3pm at the Pentecostal Church!

The first photo is my table today (being expertly run by Aunt Paula 🥰), and the second is me there last year—so just pretend I’m there with you! I’ve got lots of last-minute stocking stuffers and gift sets available, including items that have been sold out online for weeks.
