We will never get over how supportive you are of our unconventional, but very fun ideas!

You’ve embraced our soup night (hey, let’s make soup and serve it to the public on a cold night in February and invite everyone to taste test it and vote for their favourite), our cookbook book club (hey, let’s partner with our neighbours to serve a fabulous four-course dinner made from the pages of a new cookbook and then everyone can go home with said book), and now our invented September celebration of an almost-fall fête (hey, let’s celebrate the end of summer by rejoicing about the return of cooler days and less sweaty weather and we’ll serve c***r and doughnuts and have prizes).

You made yesterday our best business day of 2026 so far, and we couldn’t be more grateful for your support. We hope you’re all spending the weekend reading your new books, and can’t wait to hear about which ones you liked best.

So many new books to enjoy! From this table I’m going to give a weekend shout out to Under Story. It literally broke my brain in the very best way. Part marriage story, part time travel tome, part icy scientific spectacle, this might be the most mind-bending book you’ll read this fall (unless you also read Exit Party by Emily St. John Mandel - coming Tuesday - and then we’ll need to talk about both together).

We are beyond thrilled to share that we are now a stockist of Persephone Books!

Imported from England, these reprinted and often neglected fictional titles, mostly by women writers, and mostly dating from the mid-twentieth century, are intelligent, thought-provoking and beautifully packaged.

We can’t wait to add more titles to the store in the coming weeks, but for now we have an excellent selection of books to get you started!
