When Guru Nanak Stories first came to me, I didn’t imagine it as a series of rhyming children’s books.
I pictured a single novel that would bring together all of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Janamsakhis as a story for middle schoolers and young readers that could flow like a journey through his life.
So I began writing. I drafted many of his childhood Sakhis in full detail, with dialogue, emotion, and far more context than what you see in the books today.
What you’ll read in these slides is how Guru Nanak and the Bright Light first began, as the opening pages of that early novel idea, before it ever became the children’s book you know today.
With Gurpurab coming up, this is a beautiful way to revisit the full story of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth and share it with those around you.
This story has always been about one feeling: light entering the world. That feeling has guided every book since.
If you’d like to read Guru Nanak and the Bright Light in its final, illustrated form (and share it with your little ones this Gurpurab), you can find it on Amazon or on our website, where our 3-book hardcover bundle is 25% off until November 1. Links in bio!
Comment if you like the novel idea! I might still pursue it 🙂
Thank you, as always, for being part of this journey.
