Great work by a great group of students this weekend. These little birds turned out fantastic, and it was awesome seeing everyone’s creativity and confidence grow through the class.

Xander did another excellent job teaching with patience, encouragement, and a practiced hand. Proud of the atmosphere we’re building — relaxed, welcoming, and focused on learning the craft.

What an incredible weekend at the Prairie Canada Carving Championship 2026!

Words can’t fully express how grateful I am to have been part of such an extraordinary gathering of talent, passion, and craftsmanship. Being invited to participate as Puhlmann Supply Company was already an honour in itself — but to walk away with a Best in Show award left me absolutely speechless! 🎉

To the Prairie Canada Carvers’ Association — thank you for creating a world-class event that celebrates this incredible art form. Walking through the show floor and seeing masterpieces like breathtaking brook trout carvings, stunning bird sculptures, abstract animal forms, and that jaw-dropping coral reef scene reminded me just how boundless human creativity truly is. Every single carver poured their heart and soul into their work, and it showed.

A Green Sea Turtle swimming through curling ocean waves, built with movement, layered paint effects, and a glossy epoxy finish to bring the water to life. The goal was to capture the power of the ocean and the calm strength of the turtle in one piece.

Proud of the creativity, patience, and work Rhys has put into this carving from concept to finish. It’s been awesome watching this one come together step by step.

What a remarkable Saturday at Backyard Birds - Spruce Grove! From initial cuts to final brushstrokes, this group achieved exceptional results. Every attendee successfully carved, burned, and painted their own feather, then progressed to create a hummingbird, all within a single workshop day. Lack of experience was not a hindrance. With the right tools, guidance, and a collaborative atmosphere, everyone produced work they could be proud of.

We extend our gratitude to Backyard Birds for hosting and to the participants for their enthusiasm and creativity. What a fantastic establishment.
